The correct decision is whatever results in advancing into super regionals. That is not decided yet. I don't care what his decision is as long as it results in advancing.

I don’t think many people were questioning the move today. We weren’t playing a 4 seed in the Box.

Jump pitched great, and we needed it.

Now they have to use up arms early.

They would have lost tomorrow with this performance.

And, everyone who pitched today will be available on Sunday for sure.

Why does that question bother you so much. Could be a very logical coaching strategy at this point by wofford.

A douchebag take.

Not really, people are questioning the rantards who say you never throw off in spite of the history of coaches doing it with a lot of success.

Last year was only the second time in the history of LSU baseball that LSU threw their ace in the 1/4 game. And LSU has been in about 2 dozen of those games. And LSU has never lost a 1/4 game so pitching off worked every single time.

Baseball, like all sports, is filled with "what if" scenarios. If a play in football doesn't work, it's generally considered a bad call. If a manager in baseball goes against the book in a lefty/righty matchup, it's a bad call if it doesn't work but "brilliant instinct" if it does.

LSU won and advanced, and that's all that matters right now. Jay Johnson gets paid to make those decisions, not anyone on this board. It's why he isn't calling any of us for advice, thankfully.

It's possible that either decision results in going to the super regional. and, possible that neither results in going to the supers. That it worked out doesn't prove it was the right decision.

If we win tomorrow but get rolled in the next 2 vs. UNC, it will be obvious that we needed Jump and Holman for UNC.

I'm glad we won. Turns out we needed a great performance from our starter to keep us in that game. I am still very worried about beating UNC with Ackenhausen.

no it won't. It will just mean we needed to execute better.
