Gives us lots of runway to hire a coach for next year.

I really don’t Think it’s a Deal anymore . Reaching out to agents and vetting prospective hires requires no preamble . Just get the right guy.
FTR. I don’t see him getting fired during regular season.

Much like when a school waits for the bye week to fire a football coach. LSU does not have a mid-week game next week then has a home game Saturday afternoon.

The buyout difference between now and the end of the season is irrelevant at this point.

The difference is that Bk was killing the brand. That was straight from a big booster's mouth. Basketball has been bad for a long time and made money. If boosters want him gone, he'll be gone. If they don't, he won't. This isn't really a Verge call. It would cost about $8.5M to buy out the BBall staff.

I wish I could agree. I wanted the coach to do well this season but it seems like his time could be coming to an end. I will watch like all the games this season. It is getting painful.

No, giving a 60 yr old guy a 10-year guaranteed contract got him fired. An AD at LSU doesn’t get fired over basketball

Would be pretty dumb for the last straw to be a road loss to a crappy team that already beat our arse at home, right after we got our arse beat by a different crappy team. If the idea is we might look terrible because we're giving an interim coach a short prep time they should notice the fact that we already look terrible.

At this point let him finish the season and conduct a national search for a replacement. Don't need an interim that shows nominal improvement and then pressure mounts to take off the interim tag.

Won't really happen in basketball because the roster is so small and likely to drastically change season to season no matter what.

They whipped our butts at OUR home. They were up by 25 at half. What are you talking about?

Half the fan base probably doesn't even know who coaches mens basketball.

Pretty sure everybody used to know who Dale Brown was…

Lots knew who John Brady was… Will Wade was pretty famous (although some if that notoriety was from getting caught in a FBI sting, SMH)

Point is , winning gets you noticed.

what you gain by firing him now
you get a head start on correcting the inevitable. A gram of prevention ... is worth a kilo of cure.

And it's almost a certainty the team will play better ball being no longer under the incubus of McFailure. Maybe not good enough to make the tourney, but the mood improvement will be palpable.
