Florida: Georgia, LSU, South Carolina
Georgia: Auburn, Florida, Kentucky
South Carolina: Florida, Kentucky, Missouri
Kentucky: South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee
Vanderbilt: Tennessee, Alabama, Missouri
Missouri: South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Arkansas
Tennessee: Kentucky, Alabama, Vanderbilt
LSU: Ole Miss, A&M, Florida
Ole Miss: LSU, Mississippi St, OU
Alabama: Auburn, Tennessee, Vanderbilt
Auburn: Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi St
A&M: Texas, LSU, Mississippi St
Texas: OU, A&M, Arkansas
OU: Texas, Arkansas, Ole Miss
Mississippi St: Ole Miss, Auburn, A&M
Arkansas: Missouri, OU, Texas

Trying to keep rivalries intact and as regional as possible with the 3 permanent opponents.

..and give Alabama another gimme along with that Tennessee rivalry.

LSU’s is the most difficult to predict since every rival has another more traditional rival.

Will the permanent three be it’s own pod, or is that idea mostly scrapped? I hope it is.

How soon I wonder before we know for certain that we are getting a nine game SEC schedule?

Do you think we will learn our permanent three then?

Any chance UTw/OU before the 2025 season? I’ve read rumors of maybe 2024.

This is what I saw predicted most often when this came up a year ago. You can coin flip Vandy and UK, but the rest makes perfect sense and pairs up the most essential historic rivalries.

Ole Miss and A&M seem obvious choices for two of LSU’s permanent opponents. The third team is less clear. Probably Florida, less likely Bama or Arkansas.

That was my first pass and probably the only thing I would alter.

Texas/Texas A&M is an awesome rivalry you'd lose.

3. Arkansas - LSU
Mizzou - Kansas
Texas - Texas A&M
OU - Okie State

(Probably the cleanest solution but relies on OU and Okie State to continue playing as well as Mizzou and Kansas renewing the “Border War” game in football.)

This is what I hope happens. I know OSU & OU have said they would like to continue this game. I also heard the AD from Mizzo wanting to get that game going again.

It also puts that Arky game back where it belongs. Black Friday

That’s already been lost. It has also been made clear that A&M does not want to be in the same pod as UT, so I disregarded it. It won’t happen. They will at least play occasionally going forward.

The only ones that you really lose yearly are UT-UF, LSU-UF, LSU-Auburn,Auburn-UGA and UT-UK. UT-UF has only been a real rivalry since the 90s and doesn’t even come close to stacking up to UT-Bama. LSU-UF is really more recent than that since UF dominated the first 10 years of the series. LSU-Auburn goes back to the 80s, but has frankly fallen off its peak and the A&M series has more long-term potential.

Auburn-UGA and UT-UK are the only rivalries with a long histories that would no longer be played yearly under this re-alignment.

Replace South Carolina with Ole Miss, Mississippi State or Arkansas and this would be more believable.

Whoever is in our pod, we don’t want one of them to be named Alabama.

Based on what? A&M hasn't appeared in a conference title game since the 90s. Yeah they recruited well this past season but Ole Miss had some good classes under Freeze and did jack shite with it and that didn't put Ole Miss in top tier.

Probably no pods just the 3 perms and 6 rotating. This means you will play home and away at every SEC school in a 4 year period.

The SEC does NOT fall neatly into two tiers in football. Where is Tennessee, the second winningest team in SEC history? Where is A&M since they have never won anything in the SEC? Texas has not had a good team in over a decade. Ole MIss has a better fball program now than Texass or tennessee.

The 2-tier "system" for football scheduling simply will not work.

This would also give opportunity to play at every stadium within four seasons.

Someone pointed out that LSU-Bama is always one of the top rated games of the year — even when it isn’t played in prime time on CBS. No way is ESPN/ABC going to give up having that every year.

There are no pods and A&M came out yesterday and said they want Texas and LSU as 2 of their opponents

LSU’s list is actually not that hard to predict. It will be Ole Miss, Texas A&M and either Alabama or Florida.

If LSU keeps Ole Miss, it will not have Arkansas or Miss. State. Top-8 teams will play two Top 8s and one Bottom 8.

The real question is whether LSU lands with Alabama or Florida.

you 90s kids are cute.

There is definitely a way that Florida loses Tennessee as a permanent. Prior to the SEC expansion in 1992, Tennessee was not remotely considered a big rival of Florida's. LSU and Auburn were much higher.

It's like saying Auburn is a big permanent opponent of LSU, but all Auburn fans will tell you that one of the casualties of the 1992 expansion was their Tennessee and Florida rivalry games.

LSU will do everything they can to avoid playing Alabama every year and should.

ETA: should try to avoid playing them every year, just to be clear.
