For me.

Going into 2019 what I was most hopeful for was the "jump" of 1st year starters going into their second year on offense. Literally every skilled position player was going into 2019 as their second year. We all know the results.

2023 LSU's offense could very well have a similar "jump" not necessarily just in the skilled position groups but the overall offense.

I feel the offensive coaching staff having limited time to develop technique going into last season did extremely well "duh" SEC West!

The time they had was very similar to Big Bad Brad Davis's time with the O-line 2021. Seems like dude made chicken salad with less than a chicken in 2022.

2023 at the moment has all the coaches coming back. Big Bad Brad will have more tools to work with & should put out a very good O-line hopefully balanced abilities to operate in run/pass protection. Solid foundation for the offense.

How can there be a thread without the mention of JD. I'm not a fan of his "current" playing style but I do believe he can get a lot better. I trust Coach Sloan to get the very best out of JD next season. Hopefully we will see the flashes he showed this season with more consistently in 2023.

Providing Coach Sloan can have similar success to Big Bad Brad with the continued opportunities to work with the entire group they should all improve. JD has a lot to work on but he also has a lot to work with. 2023 will prove what he is truly capable of. I hope he proves to be elite as that won't hurt LSU in any aspect.

Truth be told, I'm a defensive guy. High flying offense is great and fun to watch. However for me watching the opposing team continually run their punter out on the field is what I'm hoping for more than anything else. This side of the ball needs a few more pieces hope they eventually get back to a real LSU defense similar to 2011. That is when we can all say LSU is back baby!

2023 should prove to be a great season.

Doesn't matter with a trigger shy, inaccurate QB.

The offense should be very good because:

Same coaching staff as last season in year 2
Entire starting OL returns
QB returns
RB-entire group returns as of now with addition of talented FR
WR- Boutte, Nabers and BTJ return. Sampson, Anderson, Brown and Parker all could contribute
TE - Taylor back. Pimpton is a legit playmaker and could contribute

The offense should be able to start fast with all the returning talent. The question is how quickly can the D which has a lot of new starters get up to speed.

Early prediction is this team will be a NY6 player and if the D plays exceptionally well we can be a CFP contender.

3rd in SEC is passing attempts
2nd in SEC is completion %

This narrative keeps being thrown out there, but the stats do not support the narrative.

Whats his deep and intermediate percentages? You cannot win championships without a deep game.

Once they drop 8 and put a spy on him, what can/has he done?

What's everyone else's percentages?

How many others do better when 8 are dropped and a spy put in place.

You are saying he's no good in these situations - show us.

Listen I hear you & don't disagree but that was/is 2022.
2023 will bring different results. I feel he will have the best coaching he's had in his career thus far. I choose to believe his shortcomings get worked out this offseason because of coaching.

The thread is about coaching and the staff having more time with the players in general. Overall opportunity for the program to get better!

How many QBs in the country can do anything when you drop 8? We need to develop some type of run game to support the passing game. When your leading RB rusher only has 500 yards, you have a problem

There is no spy, just a drop 8 zone, and there is no where for him to run...

The way I see it, the guy is an incredible talent. There is no doubt in my mind he has the physical ability to bring us to a championship. With him it is all mental. He HAS to let it rip on the deep/intermediate throws, or we will not compete for a championship. Unfortunately I think it's very hard to unlock that mental block. Hopefully seeing Nuss hit those bombs in the SECCG gave him more confidence. I think Nuss proved its not a concept or a WR problem, it's 100% Daniels.... I have confidence for him to hit them if he tries, I don't have confidence he will even try.

^^^This hopefully this will not be an issue 2023 or LSU will have similar problems as 2022. A lot of this will hinge on the improvement/success of the passing game. 4yard come backs won't cut it. I believe it will be different.

Do you think we have good coaches (even if some aren't the perfect coach)? Do you think they are able to identify some of the same problems? Do you think they will spend time both scheming for ways to beat this defense, and also working with Daniels on making quicker reads/quicker decision against this type of defense?

Do you also think Daniels is going to continue working on his accuracy? You can see his form being off on a lot of his misses.

The bowl practices, spring practices, things to work with on your own and with WR, he has months to get better at this.

Most importantly, he's played a few years - if this was the known was to defend him why did it take the SEC so long to figure it out? Clearly there are other area's he's improved upon. He'll get this one too.

Drop 8 and put a spy on him? So 9 guys and only two guys rushing? Sounds like a dream for the running game.

No, Daniels is a game manager that gets happy feet and hesitant at times. He's isn't inaccurate. If anything Daniels could be the "reel shite in" QB if Nuss or Howard get on INT sprees.
