With word on our OC saying we might be getting our DC soon, is it a possibility that Peetz could have provided any valuable input for the search?

After all, the Panthers did have a close game against the Vikings this year. It’s already been mentioned that Aranda could be a link, and Jones’ name has seemed to take people by surprise (which most people seem to believe is a very bad thing). Would it change anyone’s ideas on here if you found out Jones got a strong recommendation by our new OC, who recently coached against him?

I honestly don’t know how to evaluate Jones, as I think most here don’t, but maybe Peetz knows more than we think he does.

How the frick would Peetz have any idea about how good an opposing team’s DB coach would be at calling plays lmao

The Pelini firing is starting to smell like a big mistake.
If you can't hire an upgrade it is a huge waste of time and lots of money, not to mention it is a bad look for Coach O.

I don't think this was covered in the binder.

I’m a Vikings fan and have limited knowledge of Jones. He came to the Vikings this year and was chosen by Mike Zimmer who is a well respected defensive mind in the NFL.
He had a tough job coaching the secondary this year at times starting 3 rookies or un drafted 2nd year free agents. The defensive line had no pass rush putting even more pressure on a young secondary.

The players under him did show a lot of improvement including Cameron Dantzler and Jeff Gladney.

However, Zimmer is a former defensive backs coach and no one really knows how much of the improvement is from his involvement.

No matter what happens, it was not a mistake to fire Pelini.

I think designing a defense is more critical than the play calling

If you're referring to the 2 posts above yours, Horizon Imperial was pointing out that it's "due" not "do".
