The goal should always be to win the West. If that happens, you can win the SEC. If that happens you can make the playoffs. If that happens you can win the national championship.

Why can't we be Alabama? Or Ohio State?

Alabama went 10-2 this year with about a decade of top 5 classes with loads of elite talent. We are just finishing year 1 of winning a championship. It takes a lot of time to build that level of not only depth, but elite depth with 5* players coming off of the bench.

Depends on how we look.

If we go 9-3 with the three losses being competitive losses to three of Texas/Florida/Bama/Auburn/AM....it’s hard to be mad at that season considering what just happened

Would not be hard to be mad at that. If we lost to Florida, Bama, and Auburn that would fricking suck.

This is a pussy mentality. Let's keep this fricking train rolling.

I'm not saying we should expect to be the best team of all time every year, but we should expect 10-2 or better. Just like the other elite programs.

Why can't we have elite expectations like those other teams? Are we not good enough of a program?

Prior to the start of the 2019 season, I expected this team to go 11 & 2, so I certainly won’t be lowering my expectations for the 2020 season.

We should be in playoff contention EVERY. SINGLE. YEAR.

I see this a lot but don’t know what exactly people mean. Define “playoff contention”.

If you mean “discussed as a potential top 4 team at the end of the year” that’s one thing.

If you mean “within one game of being a top 4 team” that’s another thing entirely.

They were decimated on defense.

They haven't lost more than 2 games in 9 years. We have elite talent coming off the bench now. We have ridiculous talent.

I mean the latter. At worst have an outside shot at the playoffs if some teams lose and consolation prize NY6 bowl.

This has been TheCaterpillar's rant while sitting on the shitter for the day. Thank you.

Eat some prunes, use some metamucil fiber in your coffee in the morning and drink lots of water. Eat some apples as well, you need that bulk to pinch a good loaf.

Brennan is going to surprise

I think everyone knows that if Burrow had one more year and came back, everything else would fade into the background. But LSU essentially loses a Tom Brady who can also actually move . Not that worried about the OL because LSU redshirted some pretty good players there...WRers is covered and maybe Boutte might even start somewhere...TE covered...DL will be BETTER especially if LSU signs another DL like M Jackson...the LBer unit signed was the best in LSU history for a class...and the secondary IMO will be darn close to this year's.

However, the elephant in the room is that NO ONE can replace a guy who had the best season in college football history. I have my doubts about Brennan myself. Thus, if Brennan does indeed surprise, fine. If Max Johnson passes him by, then of course Johnson should be the starter. But there isn't a QB on LSU's roster or anyone else's, including Clemson, that has a Tom Brady type guy that Burrow is.

I agree with this, but I think our defense will step up, we will run a bit more, play for TOP to keep our defense fresh, and Brennan is capable of making some really big time throws in tight windows to our elite WRs.

Just IMO.

If you think LSU’s current players are more talented than Bama’s players, I don’t know what to tell you. Recruiting rankings tell the story.

Alabama has been: 1, 5, 1, 2
LSU has been: 7, 15, 5, 5

Pretty simple

Looks like we’re going to lose roughly 15 starters, including the leaders at virtually every position group, and our two savant main x and o’s coordinators (if the Aranda to Baylor rumors are true).

If ever there was going to be a season to excuse 8-4 or 9-3 this will be it

I won’t lower mine if you don’t raise yours from realistic expectations.

I haven’t really even thought about it.

I’m in Celebration mode and will move over to signing day mode in three days.

This was our first year with a good QB and passing offense.

For years we have said, man look at all the Louisiana talent we have, if we can just a QB and system to let him throw, we can be great.

Now we have the system. We have Brennan waiting to take over. Does Slinger need help to keep it going? Probably. Who is going to do the 10,000 catches drill with the WR at 5am every morning? Brady established a benchmark for offseason work and performance on the field. We know what we need to do now, it's just a matter of trusting coach O to do it or hire the person to do it. I have faith.

OK, I’ll just say perhaps temper our expectations to not expect best football team in the history of college football.

It’s very unrealistic, and never going to happen again like this. And you can take that to the bank. What we just experienced here this past year was once in a lifetime, LITERALLY, and to expect the same next year is quite frankly unrealistic and extremely unfair.

I fully expect LSU to contend, and be successful, but to what degree are they successful will depend on them, a brand spanking NEW TEAM. It wont be part deaux. It will be a brand new team.

We are easily talented enough to maintain 10 regular season wins despite who we lost.

Brennan is going to surprise, Chase/Marshall back, talented RBs, Stingley shutting down half the field, a very experienced and talented DL, etc.

4/5 new starters on OL. Offense will struggle next year. Sorry to break the news to you.

I am lowering mine. After what just happened, I honestly don't care what our record is next year.

in no way should our offense struggle next year

it might not be recording setting, but we shouldn't fall back to prior 2019 LSU offense

if we do, it will be a massive failure on the part of O and E
