Please don't lower expectations next season because of this season and who we are losing

We just completed arguably the greatest season of all time. It was magical and I'm still not sure I've been able to process it.

But I am worried about all of the posts about losing juniors (and Brady/Burrow) and being ok with 9-3 type season next year because of it. We don't rebuild, we reload.

We are an elite program. Our FLOOR should be 10-2. We cannot rest on our laurels because of this incredible season. We have a lot of talent on this team for the 2020 season and a great recruiting class coming in to supplement it. We should be in playoff contention EVERY. SINGLE. YEAR.

I want to be one of those handful of programs that consider a 10-2 season an absolute down year.

This has been TheCaterpillar's rant while sitting on the shitter for the day. Thank you.

Please don’t lower expectations because of reasonable things that are happening in real life? Sound logic.

The season LSU just had is borderline impossible to replicate, lol

My expectation is to just be in the hunt

Let’s start by steering clear of Auburn’s 3-9 bonanza in 2012 a couple years after they won it.

Hate to break it to you, but fan expectations have no impact on the actual team performance.

We are easily talented enough to maintain 10 regular season wins despite who we lost.

Brennan is going to surprise, Chase/Marshall back, talented RBs, Stingley shutting down half the field, a very experienced and talented DL, etc.

And I don’t think you have to worry about the utmost expectations on the rant dwindling

Ehh, fan expectations permeate throughout a program IMO.

It puts pressure on coaches and administrators to maintain the highest level of success.

I want to be one of those fans that cheers like hell for LSU each game and will see how they play / what the record is at the end.

No one is going to be "happy" with 9-3. But no one should EXPECT LSU to be able to replicate it's absurd level of play this season. When your season is mention as one of, if not the best single season in the 150 year history of the sport it is virtually impossible to expect the team to repeat that. Certainly, that will be the goal. But if that is your expectation you are going to be very disappointed.

I don't think what I said and what you said are mutually exclusive

Of course I'll do the same.

Clearly I didn't say that was my expectation.

I said 10 regular season wins at least and being in contention for the playoff should be our expectation every year, including next year.

Talent =\= winning a championship. We have a lot of inexperience at key positions and will be breaking in new coaches.

9-3 is realistic with the strength of our conference and division.

I’m not lowering expectations. But not expecting a repeat of this “type” of year.

Expectation is the same as it was before the season, 11-1 no excuses.

Depends on how we look.

If we go 9-3 with the three losses being competitive losses to three of Texas/Florida/Bama/Auburn/AM....it’s hard to be mad at that season considering what just happened

Again, I didn't say we should expect to win a championship every year.

10-2 floor and in contention/conversation for playoff the last month of the season though is absolutely realistic.

Why can't we be Alabama? Or Ohio State?
