All media outlets have major contracts with these sports leagues and say what the leagues tell them to say?
Note: CBS has been much more critical of the SEC on this issue. Wonder why? Could it be their contract with the B10?
The contrast between ESPN vs. AP reporting on this was legitimately hilarious.
SFP has now resorted to “well why doesn’t sports media like Lane Kiffin?”
Huge mystery as to why the network under contract with the SEC might carry the commissioner’s water for a news cycle…

He always seems to enjoy playing the contrarian. It gets very tiresome and detracts from what other posters are trying to share with everyone. Thanks to everyone who is trying to share real information and meaningful perspectives on the situation.

If you remember correctly LSU handed in a 103 player roster on the 4th-5th. Then the SEC brought up the penalties and had every media head talking about expelling LSU.
So what did LSU do? Put Anding and Reliford on the roster to fill all 105 spots on the 8th of September to make the SEC vote look crazy considering LSU didn’t do what they’re accused of to be voted out.
It can be easily argued LSU was coerced (with program crippling sanctions) into not rostering those players. I’m sure the players have texts and other things from Kiffin or staff saying they would roster them. The players wouldn’t have gone through the trouble of even getting involved with the initial suit in Louisiana to begin with if they didn’t have proof LSU was going to sign them.
You’re not a very good lawyer. Discovery should be pretty entertaining!

Me or Nick. Probably applies more to me, tbh.

By getting LSU involved is one way an individual plaintiff can keep a civil suit in a Louisiana court. It’s one way around diversity jurisdiction.
Also if it comes to a suit, SEC will blame LSU for talking to these kids allegedly in violation of SEC rules. So there is not a plaintiff attorney who would want to leave an empty chair.

pushing the envelopes
Really.
the NCAA pushed and the SEC pulled and LSU is in the middle.
Yea I prob didn't phrase it well. I think LSU tried pushing for the athletes to be able to play (that's what I meant by pushing the envelope-pushing for the players best chance). I think LSU wants to gain credit with the HS and college players by showing they were fighting for them. Why would those players want to file a suit against LSU when they were trying to help them. That's my point.

But Rousse's letter says the decision was made on September 4 by LSU not to roster them. I think only the initial federal suit had been filed by that date.
On September 8, the SEC amended the federal complaint and scheduled the meeting (potentially with expulsion on the table).
LSU had already the decision prior to this date. Once LSU decided not to roster the players, the injunction was effectively moot as to those players. That was September 4, per LSU's President Rousse. You can't argue interference after that date.
Yes, on 5 September, LSU released a roster that did not include Wright and Harris. However, that roster left two positions open, which at least left the option for LSU to roster them sometime later in the season. It was only after the SEC expanded its lawsuit on September 8th that LSU filled those last two roster spots with players who were injured and could not play this year anyway. That is the action that permanently closed the door on Wright and Harris, and made this motion for contempt inevitable.
GEAUX TIGERS!

The court ruled the two LSU players eligible. So there's that.

If they win lsubcan due SEC from damages, if they lose LSU should give SEC a choice fire Sankey or we sue for legal expense and defamation.
Its very clear Sankey had no clue the hornets nest he was stirring

LSU made the decision not to roster them the day after the injunction ruling, prior to the amended federal suit and the scheduling of the potential expulsion vote.
I’m trying to understand your veiled comment. Is this you implying LSU should not be a part of this lawsuit or a part of it?

This is a classic case of people telling you what you are going to do when you don’t actually do it.

I never thought of it that way.
My response was written before I saw how many people pointed out the same facts and how diligent he was in ignoring them.
I'll look into it.

One player, Jazmin Ferguson, terminated a professional contract and returned to collegiate soccer, the filing states. While a temporary restraining order was in effect, LSU played Ferguson in matches, according to the motion.
So did they stop her from continuing to play? And who did this? I don’t think the SEC rule on professionals included women’s soccer.

This whole thing is an exercise in a real time crash out by the SEC. Every action they took was based off what they perceived might happen and the outcome they want and not what actually happened.
I don’t think the law and life works that way. Maybe that’s how it is in North Korea.
