In the last couple of weeks I have started seeing more news articles about players triggering on tells, or stating we knew what they were going to run. I wonder if coaches are running game film through AI systems to see if there is any correlations between player movement and plays ran. This actually doesn’t seem crazy, and they probably should be if they are not.

There was a segment during one of the games recently where they were discussing some of the coaches in the booth using a tablet with AI assist for live stats and tendencies. I can't remember which game/team. Heck. I can't even remember if ot was college or NFL. Regardless, to answer your question, at least in part, the technology is there. How sophisticated is it? They didn't really go into detail.

Also, teams have been self-scouting for years. Depending on how this technology is, I'm sure it can be used for self-scouting as well as scouting opponanants.

Hell why not just run the live feed through an AI system to predict plays. Don’t ask it for tells just ask for the output.

This has been done by quality control for a long time in the SEC.

Any time personnel changes, alignments, and motion are all evaluated.

Done manually then. Not sure about the AI side of it now, but it's there.

We need to tell the coaches they should start watching game film, they may be able to pick something up.

Sure, analytics are used as a tool. Hard to mimic game flow and feel, especially with a DC calling plays from the sideline.

At one time in football, this was known as “tendencies”.

If there is enough film on a coach or a player you can find tendencies.

We have podcasters with instant breakdowns, it is all out there for consumption if you believe what the podcaster is saying.
