Can’t be unhappy with the effort but you can’t go seven minutes without scoring against a team like Pitt.
Especially when they shoot 100% in the same stretch.

We really need to win this next game. The basketball program is the worst about not seizing momentum to get asses in the seats when football struggles

Id kill for Anthony Hickey to be the pg of this team

Givens needs to get at least half the time at PG.
Carter cannot afford to do jack squat; the team can afford it even less
We desperately need to fix the screen and roll defense. Pitt abused us with it.
Bailey should not shot threes but perhaps should defend their PG.
Sears needs to find the bench when he starts coughing it up.

Need to bounce back and beat UCF/Wisconsin Sunday. Should be a quad 1 win
Yeah would def do a lot for our confidence no doubt, I think we can do it. Pitt's a quality ACC team (finished 12-8 in ACC play last year) and beat Duke in Cameron. We clearly need to play better and hit our shots for 40 whole minutes because we hung with them the whole first half and made a minor comeback in the second, we are capable of doing that and playing (and beating) a team like UCF/Wisconsin should improve things going forward.

Pitt will be Top 25 if they win Sunday. They are a legit tournament team.
For having 3 freshmen play big minutes, I don't think we are that far away
We will probably be a bubble team this year and very good next year

Just a quick look but it looks like Wade was .500. This looks like CMMs first loss in this format.
My apologies. Forgot he went 3-0 in his final season
McMahon was 4-2 coming into today.
I said before the game that McMahon's team generally played pretty well in their first jump up in competition. It was after where they fell off. This year that first jump up came before the holiday tournament. Let's hope this isn't the start of the drop off. 1-1 this weekend would still be good.

VMiller should get increased time. But the downside is it means we sit a big, which I think we can get away with as Miller is a great offensive player

Gross. Make the fricking tournament for the love of God. We are good enough to do it.

Reed just has to be willing to make the switch. And if the guard drives on him, which he will then the defense needs to help.
Against guards like Lowe, he's going to make the 3 if you don't switch so pick the other poison and rely on help defense. You'll get burned but a least a 2 is better than a three.
This D probably works against poorer shooting guards than Lowe.

The loss sucks, but Pitt is a solid team. This team definitely shows potential. It will be interesting to see how they look later in the season

He has major conf. size. Sears doesn't. That was one of my biggest concerns coming into the season that Sears would not be able to handle the jump in competition. In two games he has 11 turnovers. You start him on Sunday because of his experience, but I think McMahon has to have in the back of his mind considering moving more towards Givens as the season goes on if Sears can't quickly adjust.

It's the first game where he really didn't play well. However, his stupid shite talking to opponents has got to stop. This is the first time he got hit with a technical foul, but he's come close in other games.

Going WAY back I don’t remember us ever doing well in one of these tournaments.
Wade won the emerald coast classic his last year here.

So far this year Williams has the highest turnover % on the team, the lowest assist % of the guards, is shooting 18% from 3 and 0% from two... Acting like we win this game if he played today is absolutely stupid.
It’s absolutely stupid to base his value as a player from a small sample size of three games and completely invalidate all the good he did for us last year. How many games did you watch last year? How many games did you actually pay attention and see how solid of a player Mike is? Did you notice the tangible impact he made on sides of the ball? Or are you a drive by box score watcher? If it’s the latter option you can respectfully frick off.
Really it’s more like he’s only played two considering he only played three minutes against Charleston Southern. I don’t even think he’s played enough minutes to make up a full game and you’re writing him off. Absolutely laughable.
Imagine if after the two stinker games VJ miller had against ULM and Alabama State if McMahon wrote him off for it and took away his minutes. Your take makes you look like a pseudo ball knower. You’re just blurting out advanced stats to a largely uneducated crowd without using context to fully understand what those stats mean.
It’s about game feel, something I can tell you’re not understanding. Williams is a spark plug and a scrappy player. Insert him while pitt is going on their run in the start of the second half to provide stability and a balance.

Agreed turnovers have been a huge problem in the Coach Mac era. The question is why? Only my opinion but I see our players looking scared. They are so scared of doing something that McMahon won't like that they overpass and don't take shots when they have them. In the attempt to work the ball in and get that "great" shot they turn the ball over. And then there are the just ridiculous careless turnovers when we are trying to hand the ball of to a player off of a pick. Sears is a huge disappointment at this point and isn't playing like a confident player which he should be with his experience and ability.

Our high ball screen D has somehow gotten worse from last year. The guys that we have that score can't defend and vice-versa. Hopefully we can win 6-7 SEC games.

Damn this loss does kind of sting. Felt like a good chance we let get away.
It was encouraging to see us actually play with some fight while the team didn't particularly play well. But the turnovers, especially the bad passing... makes my eyes bleed.
If we can rebound like this though we can have a successful season.

Agreed, we can't repeat a stretch like the start of that second half, that was incompetent on our end to not score a point and get in that deep a hole. Credit to our guys for continuing to stay with it and cut it to 5 with time to play but one final Pitt run did us in, we gotta do better than this when conference play starts.
