They would get an incredible return on the investment with stadium upgrades which they have the money. See Miss State

Winning championships will too. I’ll defer to Jay as long as he keeps attracting top recruiting classes. I don’t think we need to build condos in left field to get an ROI. We sell more tickets than anyone. Despite the complaints of people on this board, our stadium being “cheap” hasn’t stopped people from buying tickets at a higher rate that anywhere in the country.

Bertman was an awesome baseball coach and a not so awesome Athletic Director!
Didn't make an effort to keep Saban at LSU and "Cheaped Out" on the design/construction of the new Box.
This is why LSU is having to fix all these AB deficiencies after all these years. (Off field bullpens should have been in the original design)

Bull pen ground rules. If the pitch hits the stands we will call it a ball, high and outside.

Can I judge the batters eye or is that still under construction?
Definitely. It sucks and should be replaced next year.

The stadium looked cheap when it opened. Remember when they didn’t even bother to finish building the suites out.
No it didn’t. That’s hindsight after seeing the New Dude and major renovations at other parks. The chairbacks along the line and angled seating toward the line are my big complaint, but that stuff wasn’t mainstream in college baseball parks. It was, however, becoming the norm in the MiLB.
LSU just built a stadium at the beginning of the arms race for baseball.
The only park that I would have looked at is Baum, which opened in ‘96, but has since undergone about 5 renovations.

Exactly. Were there this many complaints about the Old Box? LSU won 5 in 10 and was still playing in a pretty crappy facility.
If the New Box was more like a solid double or triple A stadium with chairbanks and angled in at the poles, great. Honestly, I couldn’t give a shite about the bullpen. Restrooms? Something clean is all I ask for. Concessions?

Took away chances of getting a foul ball.
You are actually bitching about losing foul ground to fan seating?

Jay has consistently stated that his #1 funding priority is an expansion to the indoor facility for fielding practice etc. Maybe they are saving money for that....
They are.

Nets extending almost down to foul poles is horrible. Horrible to the extent of actually considering giving up seasons tickets, which I never would have imagined I would have ever thought about in my lifetime.

This has become the norm across baseball. Sorry you don't like it but people in charge don't want people getting domed with line drives in the stands.

The Bullpen?..?.. is it a gorilla cage ... did they look at MLB designs ..
Those add-on luxury seats down the foul lines ... lol all that money for 100 seats ??
The pictures of the bullpens under the bleachers looks ..
WEAK ...THANKS TAF For wasting our donations on Terrible designed upgrades ... What a Joke!!
This really looks like a amateur literally designed the project ...
Waste of Money

I went into the new LSU bullpen on Monday night. It's really not bad at all. It does not look like it did in those early pics. It's been finished out fine. Players are good with it, although Guidry said it was a little cold (probably from the metal bleachers). There are plenty fans inside for when weather heats up.
One thing to watch for is players going over the wall near the foul poll. There is a section where the foul line is about one foot away from a knee-high wall. There will either be some wall collisions or players going over if they don't slide.

Are you talking about that back corner? That area does look like it could use some padding at the very least.

It looks like they have some type of black backdrop behind the pitchers mounds. I hope they put that behind the catcher so the background the pitcher is throwing towards isn't an open chain fence.

They added nets all the way down the lines to protect kids, and others, from getting hit by foul balls. This is literally happening all across baseball. If little johnny doesn't catch a foul ball on the wall, I think he'll be ok and won't feel robbed of his childhood, and he'll still get to build a memory of going to a baseball game with his dad.
