Is he now though? 10 years ago, sure, but now?

Yes, my daughter's twitter account tells me he's not a serious coach. He's an immature keyboard warrior.

We know what we’re getting with Lane and he would do better here than at Ole Miss imo.

This same exact thing was said about Brian Kelly.

Yeah and we got what we all knew. He stabilized the program, won 10 games in 2/4 seasons, and lost the big games. So I agree, we knew what BK was and he proved it

11-25 vs. top 25. You don't hire coaches based off of 1 year's data.

Oh, well, by all means, hire him then.

I'm not saying Kiffin shouldn't be a name brought up, i just don't think he's the guy. I think he'll lead LSU to mostly 8 and 9 win seasons with a couple 10 win seasons sprinkled in. He will win enough to keep him here for awhile but never the big one. Which will drain this program, yet again.

His defenses are historically terrible. His offenses are good, but he's also not a big game winner. This year, he's doing good. However, they weren't lights out when LSU played them. We stepped all over ourselves trying to lose to Ole Miss and still almost beat them.

What he’s done at Ole Miss is incredible. The state is poor in talent and sandwiched between Alabama, Louisiana, and Tennessee. If he has the resources that LSU provides, there is no limit to what he could do.

Sigh. There is no home run hire in this era. Lane is competitive with the big dogs at Ole Miss. did you forget how horrendous they were when he took over for Matt Luke?

All of this, but some many morons don't want to hear it. There is no guaranteed Saban level hire, it just doesn't work that way. Lane is maximizing what Ole Miss can be, and is a young guy that gets how to coach in today's game. Anyone that doesn't have in their top 3 of desired coaches isn't worth listening to.

What coach are you looking at with a winning record against ranked teams to come here?

Next, Does Ole Miss have the talent to consistently beat teams that are ranked?

The answer is no. Their roster talent is ranked 21st this year and they have not been inside the Top 20 in talent since 2017.

Instead of looking at a resume of W-L against ranked teams, look at what he is doing with the talent that Ole Miss can attract. Their NIL is less than half or ours. Their state has MS State to compete with for in state talent.

There are no perfect candidates.

Lane brings elite offensive schemes/playcalling to the fold. He garners attention and would keep our roster where it has been for the last 20 years, in the top 10 on talent.

There are no homerun hires outside of Saban and that ain't happening.

In the NIL / portal era, Ole Miss offers anything LSU does, so his record at Ole Miss should show you exactly what he would do at LSU.

He may do well, but don’t pretend LSU is some accelerant to a a career when you’re coming from Ole Miss. it would be the exact same.

He had enough talent to make the playoffs last year but lost to Kentucky and LSU. He's a little better than Kelly but still not consistent enough to achieve the goals that would be in front of him at LSU. He also isn't worth what it would cost to get him here. Save some money and go with the next choice but allocate the savings toward improving the roster.

Dude, he made the playoffs with Ole Miss. Pause here and let that sink in for a sec

He literally had 1 player, Dart, and coached them to playoffs.

You really think saving 5 million per year is "saving money"? That ain't shite to LSU or comparable program

Kiffin is a very good coach. In the BK LSU era, he is 6-5 against ranked teams and 5-2 over the last three seasons.

The main thing that gives me pause is his irrational decisions in games. Going for it on 4th down in his own territory against this weekend's opponent was inexcusable and flipped the game. They were lucky to come out of that game with the win.

Very talented, but makes some bone-headed decisions too often. Really needs to work on that.

What he did before the NIL era is irrelevant.

We can't have two a-holes in a row. Get a decent person with integrity who knows how to coach.

At Ole Miss - 7-9

At least 6 or 7 of those Ls are against Saban, Kirby, and LSU... He's undefeated against A&M while at Ole Miss... but yeah, whatever makes you feel better.

He would have athletes all over the field here with one of the best offenses in college football every year, guaranteed. Plus he’s younger (50) and likeable by fans and players.

I mean he had more athletes than most last year and still didn't make a 12 team playoff
