where did you get your numbers?

I have him at 10-9 when looking at his schedule on ESPN and 10-10 when looking at it on Wikipedia with 4-5 of those loses in the first 2 years.

thats teams that were ranked at the time they played them.

We want to hire that guy? Why? Because he's famous?

I think LSU fans unanimously agree that LSU is a far superior program than Ole Miss. We joke about things like hanging a banner for being Co-SEC West champs. That said, the OP is giving Lane no credit for putting Ole Miss on par, and now ahead of LSU in the current SEC pecking order. I am not saying Lane is a slam dunk hire, but his detractors act like he is not worthy of consideration and that is just dumb.

2019 proved what LSU could do with homegrown talent and competent play calling.

Lane is an offensive, play calling head coach.

I think most fans just want someone that can at least secure one side of the ball.

For some perspective, 6 of those losses were to Bama and Georgia (4 to Bama and 2 to Georgia). The other three were Florida in 2020, Auburn in 2021, and LSU in 2024.

So, it's not like he's losing games to shite teams. He mostly lost to Saban and Kirby, and who hasn't? He also pecker slapped Georgia last year 28-10, so....

Granted, he has lost some games to unranked teams that he probably shouldn't, but overall, he's winning at an impressive clip at a place that normally is only good every few years and he's turned them into a perennial tough out for everyone playing them.

So a down year for Lane is 9-3 while barely missing the playoffs? Sign me up.

The good news is, he only won 4 of those games before he got to Ole Miss and now in the last 6.5 years he’s got 7 of those. That’s a pretty good improvement. He took FAU and Ole Miss from the shitter too much better programs. He’s in a better place in his life, and I think He’s finally starting to figure out what it’s like to be a damn good head coach.

This is the ultimate lazy research. Look at Saban’s stats before LSU, talent matters.

You misunderstand. That’s an up year. You’re confusing floor for ceiling.

Look, I like Lane, and I’m not opposed to the idea of getting him here if he will come. I think a lot of us just need to pump the brakes and little and be honest about assessing his abilities.

No I’m not. We know what we’re getting with Lane and he would do better here than at Ole Miss imo.

Kiffin's antics would wear really thin really fast at LSU. He's immature and all about himself more than the program. That works at a 2nd tier program like Ole miss because they are just happy for the attention . Good play caller, but not a serious HC. Dont forget his tenures at the real legit programs USC, Tennessee ,and Alabama. None of those ended well.

LSU needs a hungry coach in the Saban/Jay Johnson mold. 100% dedication to the program and attention to detail and outworking everybody else. Im not sure who that is these days but thats what id be looking for. Not another "character" that the media loves LSU to have.

coming around to the idea of dan lanning? wtf is wrong with yall?

seriously in what fricking world is dan lanning not a grand slam hire? in what fricking world...do you have to be convinced to come around to the idea of dan lanning?

same with kiffin.

wtf do you expect from the coaching hire? we arent getting ryan day or kirby smart....who has a better record than kiffin vs ranked teams? who in the hell would be better than lanning or kiffin?

some of yall have completely unreasonable expectations

Let’s be honest. No one fully knows what we’re getting with anyone. The BK debacle shows that.

Looking at overall record is misleading. Tennessee was a rebuild and USC was on super duper secret probation.

7-9 at ole Miss and he took over a team that had won 3 SEC games in 2 years before he arrived.

People are going to say "but it's at Ole Miss" and completely ignore the fact that last year Ole Miss, along with Ohio St, had the two most talented rosters in the country and Ole Miss missed the playoffs.

I don't hate all his antics and stuff, but when/if you're losing, that shite will get old very quickly.

Add in the fact he's going to be the most expensive head coach in the market this cycle and it's easy to see why he might not be the guy.

He’s not the same person. You know he got sober while at Ole Miss and is more family oriented now?
