quote:

New Orleans Saints @Saints
Asked about seeing similarities in LSU's offense, Payton joked:
"The last thing I told Joe (Brady) was that he was making a mistake. So much for what I know," ?? Payton added it's been exciting to see what Ed Orgeron and LSU has done this season "It's been really impressive"

quote:

Sean Payton talking a little about #LSU today, gave us this gem: “The last thing I told Joe (Brady) was that he was making a mistake. Shows how much I know.”

For better context:

quote:

Amie Just @Amie_Just

The last thing Sean Payton told Joe Brady before the wunderkind left for LSU?

“You’re making a mistake.” He laughs now. “Shows what I know.”

Wow. O knew Payton had a diamond on his coaching staff before Payton did.

A jackass who doesn't want promising young coaches leaving his staff.

Sean Payton has always been a douchebag. Always. Winning don't change THAT.

He probably didn't think he was ready, which isn't a crazy thought given Brady's age.

People seem to be oddly interpreting what Sean said.

It doesn't come across nearly as unflattering to Sean OR Brady to me.

Jackass? he sounds like a guy who can make fun of himself. That's not all there is, but it is the makings of a good man!

To be fair to Payton, when your 20 something year old offensive assistant says he's leaving the New Orleans Saints to go be the Passing Game Coordinator at LSU of all places, that's a legitimate concern.

Payton didn't want to lose a young bright mind that he obviously wanted to keep around... oh knowz... it shows character to come out and admit you were wrong in ways.

Good Lawd. How are y’all taking offense with THAT? LSU has promised to change before and did not. And, Payton basically wanted Brady to stay and learn.

He is also the reason that Joe Brady has this knowledge of running the offense. So yes, Sean Payton will get a ring by LSU for the championship we win next week.

If you're trying to mentor someone and give honest feedback while they are asking for your input on a career decision, I can respect this.

But if someone has already made their decision, it's a pretty jackass thing to tell them that they're making a mistake, whether they are or not. At that point, let them decide for themselves whether it's a mistake or not. That goes for any career field.

Hold on now.

He's a douchebag. Period.

That's just a fact.

But he's our douchebag. I got no problem with any of it but he's still what he is.

Came across humble and honest, IMO.
