Our recruiting competitors should be saying that he is staying

I guess my sarcasm just wasn’t as effective as it sounded when I posted it. But you got it.

How is after Wednesday more appropriate than two weeks later?

When both occur after signing day and before recruiting can ramp back up, plus an actual game that needs to be coached?

Ashame it was historically bad.

Even if Kelly thought House was handicapped by all of the adversity this year, you can’t keep the man who helmed the worst defense in team’s history.

Ok. Flame away…

I’ve heard the same rumor. I even asked “why wait” and the sauce didn’t have an answer.

So whatever. But interesting that I heard the same thing very recently. Not same sauce as op

Just a hypothetical that would make the timing make sense. We are getting somebody from 1 of the playoff teams that doesn't want to announce before the playoffs to 1) not be a distraction, and 2) make sure he gets to coach his current kids through the playoffs. Most HCs are cool with coaches staying on through big bowls/playoffs if they are getting promotions, but for a lateral move for the same position, they'd probably want them out. Saban even told Kiffin to hit the bricks when got a HC job, perhaps even costing them an NC. So the timing for the "new" DC could make sense.

As far as LSU is concerned, we have a game on 1/1. Someobody has to coach it and all the practices leading up to it. We are paying House regardless, we may as well let him coach throughout IF as mentioned in the paragraph above, we can't announce and install the new DC due to the timing on his end. And I know people think House leaving is addition by subtraction, but it's either him or a G.A. Sure, a position coach could call the defense, but a G.A. would have to take over those responsibilities. shite canning House now just leaves you a coach short if the new one isn't ready to come in.

And it would give House and his agent more time to find a landing spot. I know LSU fans want their pound of flesh, to embarrass him, and shame him in front of the world. But that's not a great long-term strategy when it comes to attracting in-demand coaches that have options.

Also, I think Kelly really wants this 10th win. I think he thinks it's really important for the perceived growth of the program. And, despite the defense being atrocious, having as much continuity where you can in an absolutely wild month of the year is probably a good thing.

I don't know. They could announce House's firing at noon today. Or he could be back next year. But I don't think the "timing" piece says a whole lot. It's a different world now with the portal, early signing period, and the playoffs. The timing has never been like it is now. December is insane.

I don't get waiting either, but I am sure there is a good reason.

Interesting that I was getting checked out at the register the other day Christmas shopping by an LSU sophomore that also works in the football ops department. When she told me that the first thing I asked her is House getting fired and she smiled and said no!!

FSU was a good defense, but I say more than them being the best defense we faced it was our offense not being what they would become yet later in the season. It was the first game and they had not gotten all the kinks out yet. Also don’t forget Logan diggs didn’t play a snap in that gam eitr.

Guy will finally figure out Perk should get pressure on the QB as often as possible and we will smash Wisconsin.

Maybe need a DC to call the bowl game? BK wants 10 wins, maybe not the best idea to make a change until after the game.

You are not breaking news here. If you read the tea leaves it is pretty obvious.

You wait because you give a guy an opportunity to move on and find another job without terminating him. You keep a solid relationship that way as paths are bound to cross again with the turnover in football coaching.

I’m not saying this is what’s done, but this can give a coach a good reputation for being a quality coach h to work for. Additionally, it gives the HC a chance to get a few people without everyone trying to chase his every move.
However, when the agreed upon time is up you still have to make the move.
