College Football and Men’s basketball have always been the money makers in college athletics for every university. This is nothing new.

The TV contract for the NCAA basketball Tournament alone is worth nearly a billion dollars. I love watching LSU win the CWS, but Rizzoli & Isles gets higher ratings than many of those games.

The interest and fan support for LSU baseball is an extreme outlier relative to the rest of the country

So I guess they have a percentage. And the basketball team gets a greater percent of the tv revenue? The baseball team has won 2 national Championships in 3 years. While the basketball team hasn't been revelant in twenty years.. is it any way that this percentage can be changed? I guess dale brown has more pulled than Skip?

Maybe I’m not so dumb after all

The percentage of the revenue share football and MBB get is based on that fact that those two sports actually earn a profit over the year. Thus they share the revenue/profits earned. Baseball loses quite a bit and its getting deeper in the hole every succeeding season.

LSU Baseball is quite successful in the NIL department and will certainly continue to be.

Basketball earns more TV revenue than baseball, a LOT more when you factor in the conference’s share of the March Madness TV money

It's difficult to understand why LSU MBB would EVER get more revenue from TV than WBB. js.

Many dont want to hear it.

The TV contracts for college basketball are worth way more than the contracts for college baseball.

I thought everyone knew this.

That's been well known for decades.

More people watch college baseball than basketball here but that's absolutely not the case, or even close to it, in most of the rest of the country therefore t.v. contracts for college basketball pay out much more than for college baseball, therefore the cut for individual schools is much bigger - has been for a long time.

A lot of people down on the bayou don't understand that 95-98% of college sports fans nationally do not care AT ALL about college baseball.

95-98% care a lot about football, and 90%PLUS care a lot about men's basketball.

I know a lot of you youngsters don't realize this, but if we EVER get basketball rolling again (like Dale had it, and Wade was in the process of restoring), it'll DWARF the interest our school has in baseball.

As you downvote me, take a second and look at Alabama, Auburn, or Tennessee. They are THRILLED that their basketball coaches have them chasing titles, and I promise you baseball is the red headed step child (as it should be) of their athletic departments.

Yay!!!!! LSU dominates a sport no one (statistically speaking) cares about!!!

What is Ruffino trying to do with this statement? Is he trying to convince people he is smart or has some info no one else has? Everyone knows basketball brings in more tv money to say otherwise would be retarded.

The passion for college baseball here is - it really - is unique - that so many of us seem to have little or no awareness that's it's not like that in the vast majority of the country is interesting to me....but I guess we all in our own ways see what we want to see on certain things.

You're probably one of the ones bitching about how WBB doesn't turn a profit. Par for the course for LSU fans, go all in pitching about things with no understanding of how they work.

Well yea.... how much is the baseball team on TV before the supers? Until then its basically all ESPN+/SECN+ streaming.

Hard for college baseball to compete when ESPN never gives it a shot

yep. And outside of LSU and only a few other schools, no one watches college baseball.

The 2025 numbers are not out.. but for 2024 LSU baseball lost 2 million and LSU basketball made 1 million, so why should the basketball players not get more money ?
