we have a bullpen full of arms we can trust to come in at any moment
& as the catchers coach he has done a superb job of finding a catcher with excellent both offensive & defensive skills
You can, and I do, easily place the blame for that on roster management and development. Neither of which is Cain’s job. Well maybe the catchers are his fault but the pitching talent is and has been there. It’s been a while since we’ve seen one actually get developed and improve while here though.

Kind of like McClendon and Miles, it was just time.
Yep...and exactly like those two, it came a few years later than it should have.
Having said that, he should be thanked for his service and devotion to LSU!

I would love to get Bianco back
Why?
He’s made it to Omaha once in 20 years
& only 5 Super Regionals

Thanks for the memories Paul. I'll never forget the winning streak of '08 and the final series in the old Box against UCI to make an improbable run to Omaha, and then following it up the next year with a Natty. There's also been some good teams that got close to winning it again but fell just short, but those seasons were still fun.
The writing was on the wall this season but I'll choose to remember Paul for all the good times, as there were certainly plenty of them throughout his tenure.

I’ve always be fond of Paul, and so thankful for the memories. I am glad he went out amicably on his own terms.

In the running every year. NO. Obviously our definition of in the running is night and day.
Obviously the goal is nattys, but let’s be 100% honest with ourselves and realize that the tournament doesn’t crown the best team. Being a National seed however many years in a row, while not the ultimate goal, is WAY more impressive to me than nattys. Would I choose a championship over being a National seed? Of course, but being a high seed shows sustained excellence over a long season and that we had a great team instead of getting hot for 3 weeks. So yes, he did have us in the running nearly every year he was coach until the last few.

Thank you, Coach. Thanks for your dedication to LSU and the young men who have represented the university.

He’s talking about his health issues
Said close friends told him he looked awful, he said he looked like he felt
Said his pain affected his coaching, he’s not the same coach he was
This is tough to watch
The man loves the game
Spoke to Woodward
Told Woodward about what was going on & that due to his health the program would be better served with someone else leading it

making it sound like he's trying to put LSU in the best position possible during the transition... which very well could be true
