You got what you wanted ... is it still necessary for you to be a douche on this thread?

Makes me a little emotional. He was a great coach and deserves to be remembered fondly. Definitely ready for the next chapter, but glad to have had Paul in the LSU dugout.

This. I've definitely been frustrated the last few years with his decision making, but man it would have been sad to see an ugly split. He is definitely a Tiger, turned the program back around following Smoke, and deserves to be recognized for such. Kind of like McClendon and Miles, it was just time.

I think you are completely wrong on this one. I’d say he’s the one that if one were to stay would be the most important one to stay. Baseball is different, and he’s the one who has all of the relationships with all of the recruits and sells LSU baseball. Has had really good recruiting classes, and at times was operating as a one man band. He also understands the analytics side and the new age of baseball as well as anyone.

Depending on who the coach is that comes in, and what their staff assemblage looks like, Cain could be a guy like Gautreau was at Mississippi State to help bridge the gap.

LSU will never again return to the glory days of Skip. If that will be how LSU fans always measures success, LSU Baseball will never be successful again.

Didn't always agree with his decisions but it's hard to deny the production he had here. Outside the last few seasons, he was a good coach. Good luck in retirement Paul. Lots of damn fine memories he brought to the program.

Excellent recruiter, we have a bullpen full of arms we can trust to come in at any moment
& as the catchers coach he has done a superb job of finding a catcher with excellent both offensive & defensive skills

No team will. College baseball has evolved since the days of USC in the 60s and 70s. There was no parity and USC dominated. What LSU did in the 90s was incredible because there was way more parity in the game at that time. But what LSU did in the 90s made a lot of capable programs see that there could actually be money it, and they started building on that. Now the parity in college baseball is unbelievable. It will be rare to see a dynasty like LSU accomplished in the 90s.

Hey, I'll give credit to Corbin. Along with Tanner and Casey. Awesome programs. But what did they win, 2 each? I'm talking 5 in a 10 year span, with an appearance in just about every year in between. That kind of dynasty. USC won what? 10 or 11 from 68 to the late 70s or early 80s. Too much parity for that to happen again.

Question is, who do we go after to replace PM? I would love to get Bianco back. But I don't know if he would leave Ole Miss.
