I honestly thought LSU wouldn’t step on their dicks by laying off AD employees and reducing salaries while paying millions in buyouts. It’s bad optics, but this is LSU we’re talking about, the kings and queens of PR tone deafness.
Do you honestly think the salary for AD employees and the buy out money comes from the same pool of money?
This is what I'm talking about. There was maybe like two articles about the "bad PR" of PRIVATE donors paying buyout money.
You know what's worse for PR and for business? When the biggest money maker for the university doesn't make any money because they go 5-8 and lose support.

Cain needs to find a new gig

I’d expect a new coach to bring in his own staff
I expect Cain, Dunn & Smith to go
If Cain & Dunn aren’t replaced I’ll be pissed

They're probably all gone. Good coaches tend to bring their own good coaches. Also, whoever gets the gig likely needs their coaches to do different things than Paul asked his coaches to do. This ain't like football where you need eleventeen coaches, so you probably will retain some of the position coaches when you take over a program. This is baseball where there are three paid coaches and a volunteer assistant who have to do everything, so you can't afford not to have your handpicked guys that you work well with.
Either way, #RetirementRally.

I won’t bash the man. It’s 100% time, but he deserves to be remembered as the 2nd best coach we’ve ever had. A natty and a long period of sustained excellence when we were in the running every year. Great career Paul!

Who is the third best? He’s 2nd by far. But there’s a huge gap between 1 and 2. And another huge gap between 2 and 3. Honestly, 3rd best by results is Smoke.

Cain is the biggest one that needs to go to me.

About seven years too late. Let’s see if we can climb out of the hole.

It was time but "thank you" Paul and best of luck to you and your family.

Paul was a really good baseball coach that produced a ton of great memories. I’m happy he is retiring and hope he has a long happy retirement.
