“You could tell our guys were not focused."
Per Wilson Alexander
quote:
Paul Mainieri, continued: "It's my job to get the team ready. It's nobody’s fault but my own... We got beat by a team that was more focused and ready to play than we were."
Edited to add the 2nd tweet where Paul takes the blame.
But my question is- if he knew the team wasn’t focused, why fight to play a game that doesn’t help you?

More of the same from Pawl.

Unbelievable!! It’s his fricking job to prepare them.

HS coaches are supposed to prepare these guys to throw strikes, know how to bunt, run the bases and come ready to play. Everyone knows this.

So ready for him to be gone...

I might be in the minority, but I don't blame Paul for this loss. At some point the players have to step up and take ownership, and it just didn't happen tonight.
In the grand scheme of things, we control our own destiny, so this game won't make or break things.

I fricking knew he’d blame the weather. Predictable

Poor comprehension. He didn’t blame the weather for losing. He was saying he feels the guys didn’t actually think they would have a game because of the weather.

This was per Alexander post game

I totally disagree. I blame Mainieri for every shitty arse pitcher we have in that bullpen.

Which caused them to be unfocused, which caused the loss. He says it plain as day

Right, but he doesnt say that he knew they were going to come out unfocused

What in the F dies he think he is getting paid to do? Jesus this guy needs to be put out to pasture!
Posted on 5/18/21 at 8:37 pm to ehidal1
That darn weather just really got us rattled

Let's be honest. At this point, nothing he says after a loss is going to be good enough here.
