If you win it you are in the playoffs...if you lose it you don't deserve to go to the playoffs. IMO...that should hold true for every conference championship game.

It needs to be where all 4 conferences have a championship game and win or lose if you make the game you are in the playoff. Then either select the top 4 remaining or even go to 16 teams and select the top 8. Seems pretty simple really.
Also, playing meaningful games out of conference is a thing of the past. In the current format we have to get out of all meaningful non conference games and play cupcakes. Loses are too damning now and conference play is simply too difficult.

Probably so, we talk of the poor offensive play calling, yes horrible, the poor decisions by Nuss in the 2nd half, the poor defense against the option but the bottom line is this, Lsu is not getting the kind of talent that Geo and Ala have gotten for a few years now. Next year's class looks like a good one, and we'll need more years of that to be "elite." For now, we're an average team in the SEC.

Even in that case it’s not so clear-cut. If Ole Miss beats UGA, for example, A&M and LSU rematch for the SECCG (because our opponents would have the same record).
Basically in a 4-way tie between LSU/aTm/Tennessee/Texas, the question is whether it gets reduced to a 3-way tie between LSU/Texas/Tennessee.
The 4-way tie will go to opponent win%. If LSU wins or ties A&M at that point, we are in. If A&M wins and it gets reduced to a 3-way tie, we are out because of common opponents.

I said this a week or two ago but there’s an elegant solution to this. Just finalize the CFP rankings before the conference championship games.
Then the only direction anyone playing in a conference championship can go is up - either to a first round bye for teams who have already secured a spot, or to a playoff bid for teams who haven’t. Or potentially both for P4 teams sitting just outside the at-large threshold.
Conference championships would still have a lot of value, with none of the risk/downside apart from potential injuries.

If A&M drops one then you’re in a two way tie with A&M with them getting the nod for the head to head win.

that may be one of the dumbest things I have read today on here. If you lose to the SEC Champion, you don't deserve to be in a 12 team playoff? What a dumbass.
