Tell me exactly what I am wrong about. Do you think that NFL players have no additional benefits or compensation outside of their salary?

That’s not what was said.. Players get a salary from their teams like a scholarship. They do not get a salary plus room/board, etc like you see in college.
No one is saying these kids don’t deserve some sort of compensation. Calling it a “job” is a joke. That goes for all forms of people that play sports for a living. It’s a game

You asked if NFL players were compensated outside of their salary. I said yes, which is true. You then said you didn’t know that NFL plays got “housing, meals, etc” paid for by their organizations. They do.
You don’t have to refer to it as a job if you don’t want to I guess. Btw the definition of a job is “a paid position of regular employment”

This is a big true. I’ve always been against players getting paid. The amount a power 4 school football scholarship is worth is at least $500k over 4 years. Between tuition, room and board, food, clothes, training, healthcare, etc. not to mention the priceless networking you get as a football player, especially a starter. It gets you so far ahead in life. Them wanting money is pure greed because money is the devil.
To be clear I’m not against selling jerseys and signing autographs for money. Or even making money off of YouTube or w/e. But paying players outside of that is dumb.

Who is making money? Y’all just act like the sports outside of football make money. I don’t have the numbers, but I would argue every sport outside of football is a loss.

NIL was never supposed to be pay for play, but like with anything else, if corruption can seep in, it will.

Have no clue how the state has any say so on a players earning from NIL. Written in small font from what I heard.

Look at the demographics and socioeconomics of most recruits’ families. They don’t value education.
Underwood’s dad wanted to be able to retire.
There’s your answer.

When you're the main part of a BILLION dollar industry...no

That’s what LSU charges, that is nowhere near what it actually costs.

That puts a 5 year scholarship at a quarter of a million dollars. is that really not enough money to play football?

If it’s not a professional sport, why are we paying coaches 100 million contracts and ESPN playing billion to broadcast it
Posted on 12/7/24 at 12:35 am to luciouslou
It doesn’t matter if you or I think it’s enough. This is simply about the current value of the players. Either we are able to pay the market value for the player to come here or not. If you don’t want to pay, don’t. But understand that if enough people don’t pay, the team will be bad. It’s up to you, but this is pretty simple stuff. Nobody really cares about your opinion on what the value should be. No one that matters to the situation anyway. No offense. Nobody would care about my opinion either.

Hey, you close-minded frick, we do value education.
Arch Manning and Quinn Ewers aren't playing for free.
Is Dad supposed to keep working instead of traveling to watch his boy play?

NIL is a good thing. Someone should be able to make money off their name. Jersey sales, autographs, appearing in commercials for local business owners.
What makes it a bad thing are things like the Bryce Underwood situation. 12 million for what? How will he benefit Oracle?
That is type of shite that should be looked at. When players are paid for nothing except to play football.
