Did his family slip an ice chest of Benjamins to one of Trump's kids?

Great on President Trump. But Billy has already been pardoned for all his sins by God. RIP Billy.

I see nothing he did to earn a pardon.

You may not, but Trump didn’t just wake up and think “I’m gonna pardon Billy Cannon today.” Someone on behalf of I would assume his family, has been submitting documentation for this to happen. I would think the pardon has to do with his work at Angola, where he cleaned up the medical system with great success.

Doesn’t bother me either way.

The pardon doesn't erase the facts.

Doesn’t bother but I never understood pardoning someone who is dead.

To clear their name but Cannon was guilty. Not sure why he was pardoned.

A pardon predicates that the person was guilty. They must admit as much if they accept the pardon.

Can you explain why Billy Cannon was pardoned? I wasn't born during his time. What crime did he commit?

I down voted because it seems stupid to pardon someone that was clearly guilty and is dead. Make it make sense.

Regarding Cannon, I don’t really care, but I don’t understand why the pardon would be appropriate in his case. It doesn’t correct an injustice, nor set a standard for how his crime should later be viewed.

He was guilty, he did his time. Case closed.

This is just bread and circuses.

most states, your rights are restored after completion of sentencing stipulations, whatever that may be. Some states the rights are only taken while incarcerated. A couple states have a set waiting period after completion.

And believe it or not a handful of states including DC, voting rights are never taken away from a felon. Felons can legally vote while incarcerated in prison.

BIlly did his time and turned his life around. Why does receiving a pardon bother you and anyone else. It’s not like he was pardoned while in jail or before he went to jail. He served his time.

You ask why the pardon would bother someone, I ask why did he receive a pardon given everything else in your post. Particularly given that he is deceased. Posthumous pardons should be reserved for the wrongfully convicted.

We love our political grandstanding as long as it's our guy doing it and our guy reaping the benefit. Maybe he'll pardon Harvey Updyke next. Having too much Bama in you shouldn't be an arrestable offense anyway.
