Our OL has been bad for years.

We've had one or two very good players but the rest are backups being forced into starting roles. Alabama pressured Leavitt with only 4 all night long.

It's the main reason why we suck in the redzone.

Alabama ran a quads coverage all night; playing 4 deep and making us throw underneath. It worked until the redzone where the coverage gets compressed and there is nowhere to throw.

We should have been running on them all night against that coverage except for the aforementioned bad OL.

The OL has one SEC Starter Seaton the rest are backups or worse. Spend $40M plus and forgot you need an OL.
RZ plays were pathetic never target Green and o to make the D cover him. Throw a jump ball into the cover make them cover him! Never once did they target him in RZ! The slow white Bama TE outplayed Green in the RZ because they targeted him.

Or the linemen weren't available in the portal. How many good or SEC caliber linemen are available in the portal every year?

Offensive linemen are tougher to find in the portal. Grabbing Seaton was a miracle. Interior offensive linemen aren't plentiful in the portal. We need to recruit and develop HS talent the old fashioned way.

OL requires time to gel and build chemistry. While we've seen some progression of it we have not seen it to a satisfactory level. Stat Heads won't admit it but the pulse of an OL is where games are won or lost. Our OL has been the biggest weakness on this team all year long.

Agree with this.
Unfortunately, This COULD mean realistically fielding a competent Oline is 3 years out.

The OL guys may of not been listed in the portal but with all the back door poaching recruiting etc you make them say no. Look at how Ole MS got the linebacker from Clemson Pete texting him a million dollar contract in class. Not saying he that stupid but there are plenty of back channel ways to get players.
You need your OL/Qb/wr to be together starting in January to build chemistry and now how they play to do well in the season!

Less than 15 I’d wager.

The amount of people who don’t understand this is hilarious at this point. OL is the least plug and play unit there is. If it ever happens, it usually indicates you picked up an All-American type lineman and plugged him into a solid unit already in place. The more new players you add the worse your Oline will look, at least initially.

It’s why an Oline of average players can look pretty good most of the time and why an Oline fo very good to great players can look mediocre or even bad initially. When judging players, tackle play tends to look more like the players abilities on passing plays and guard/center play looks more like the units cohesiveness and can be a little harder to guage unless guys are clearly missing assignments. Running plays are physicality and unit play, a player not doing his job will often make another player look bad because he is having to decide who to block or do something he is out of position to do because someone else was supposed to do that. Power runs are mostly pad level and physicality.

Yes it has been & if LK does not get that shored up via recruitment and the portal we will lose a lot of games next season. I just hate the freaking GUMPS!!!! I just knew we would win that game!??

So many LSU fans don’t know football at all. The coaches can only do so much. Should there have been some different in game calls? Sure. But at the end of the day, if you can’t set the tone with the O Line, you’re not going to win football games. It’s really that simple.

Even the award winning 2019 line was not very good. Burrow and the skill players covered up the mistakes.
