Perhaps. But with such an abundant access to information his players probably had some information he might be a candidate for the job. It's almost IMPOSSIBLE to keep things secret these days. Hell, just look at this board. People immediately run to post even any hint of "inside information."

Job was his until LSU started vetting him, With all of LSU recent very public issue's no way we could hire him, If they hired him and the stuff they found out about him came out, and it would because the ex wife is a absolute nightmare and is determined to make his life a living hell. TBO from her point of view I cant blame her. LSU would never recover from a PR stand point.

Pre Season #1 going down in flames, spectacularly in their own Regional, plus O'Sullivan's bizarre behavior post Regional, certainly didn't help his cause.

Or his players, who are college kids on their phones and internet constantly, see all the rumors and media speculation and he felt the need to address it.
Not hard for a coach to pick up a weird pulse in the locker room about shite like that.

I read this situation as The BOS consulted Skip and he put the kibosh on it. For obvious reasons, Skip is still revered by the LSU Admin and BOS. The 'Hold the Rope' documentary has only reburnished Bertman's place as the kingmaker of the baseball program.
They will not hire anyone that doesn't get the seal of approval of Bertman. They can't afford to have him estranged from the program.
By the same token, the BOS must insure the hire will fully embrace Bertman and the LSU baseball legacy. Someone coming in with the attitude of 'there's a new sheriff in town' and the last 35 years be damned will fail spectacularly.

The way Ben spoke about Bianco during the regional worried me. He seemed to go out of his to bring him up a few times and his phrasing of "He's the coach at Ole Miss...right now" made me uneasy. Call me paranoid but I didn't like it or the timing of it.
