More like without Covid that team wouldn’t have sniffed post season.

Also would have liked to not lose the 2 best players from the state to other SEC school. Especially since the best hitter in the state withdrew his name and is head to Arkansas.

The pitcher hurts more than the hitter. Pearson reclassified, otherwise he might’ve been the best hitter in the state. The pitcher from Barbe didn’t give up a single extra base hit the entire season. That’s unfathomable to me.

What about Doughty? Don't forget Milazzo. He is going to bust through the Mendoza line next year...

LSU baseball is not feared any longer....still respected...but not feared. The 90's are history. Let's hope that Coach Johnson can do as well as Paul in his heyday

Jack Walker is going to be hell to face the next few years.

I think you guys are really giving too much credit to Jack Walker because he's a Louisiana kid. He's a good player, but it's not like we just lost a Kumar Rocker type player to MSU. There is a reason he was not even close to a draft risk. If he was from another state people wouldn't be talking about it much.

He'll be a solid pitcher, but not some unhittable ace.

ETA:

I think Lansville has a higher ceiling and will be a better player in the long run. He's got more heat and a devastating curve.

Looking at the draft results from other SEC teams and incoming recruits. it looks like we are on par with Bama and Tenn. Well behind Vandy, Florida, and Ark. and Miss St. that needs to improve starting next year.

How

LSU fanbase and Vandy fanbase are in no way similar.

People in Nashville don't buy stuff just because it has a V on it.

How’s he compare to Grant Fontenot? According to PG Rankings, Grant is #2 in the state and Walker is #12.

Seems no one is really talking about Fontenot.

Jack Walker is a phenomenal pitcher who will be a Friday ace.

frick metrics. It's a pox on the game.

Walker is a ballplayer. I want those.

ETA: He may not start off as a Friday ace because some idiot coach thinks the fireballer or the 6'5" dude is better. I hope that doesn't happen.

Have you ever heard of someone not giving up a single extra base hit for an entire season? I think he warrants every piece of credit he receives.

It's a cool stat and he's a good player.

There are kids that dominate some high school ball and aren't aces in the SEC.

This is AJ Labas in high school, his stat line in Florida was absurd:

quote:

Posted a 9-0 record in 2017 as a high school senior with a 0.50 ERA in 65 innings, firing 82 strikeouts with only 11 walks … recorded a 25-4 win-loss mark during his high school career

I'm not saying he won't be a weekend starter, in fact, I think he'll grow into one likely, but he isn't some program changing talent. He just isn't.

I also think it is true that people on this board wouldn't give a shite if he wasn't from Louisiana.

So in your opinion he’s a day one Friday starter as long as their coach doesn’t get too caught up on measurables?

But it is somewhat of an athletics powerhouse that plays other big time programs I believe.

Granted, I did light googling.

The overall point still stands, there are kids all the time that dominate high school ball that aren't program changing aces and no one would give a shite about Jack Walker going to MSU if he wasn't from Louisiana.

Yes, I'd like to have him because he's a good player. No, I don't think it's that big of a deal we aren't getting him. People on this website act like he's Greg frickin Maddux.
