Makes sense the hire is today since the dead period ends tomorrow. Him not being hired by LSU made him available to talk to any recruit these past few weeks.

No he hasn't. But he never left college recruiting at heart. So he stays in touch with the prospects in case he did take a job.

You can't recruit and talk about recruits by name on radio.

He said...he said....you cant. Works for me though. God knows we need any advantage we can get with our 3-ring circus.

that would raise red flags with ncaa since this is the recruiting dead period?

This would be a major NCAA violation not minor but MAJOR if he was in contact with potential recruits. Les isn't stupid.

He can't any more. He could as long as he wasn't part of a staff.

I remember Guice tweeted Kyle Phillips something along the lines of "Talk to Coach O before you commit to Ole Miss or Tennessee tomorrow" while at the Army All American Game. Wish he would have listened, but that kinda shows that Coach O has been on the trail.

He wasn't working for LSU and could have said "I may be coaching somewhere soon enough."

The burden of proof would be on the NCAA. They would have to prove not only that he was talking to recruits but that he had been offered a job.

Even then he hadn't signed his name anywhere yet. The NCAA would be chasing shadows.

NCAA rules prohibit this type of contact and they can merely infer that Miles had an agreement with Orgeron. A paper trail doesn't have to exist for them to prove Orgeron's contact was improper. I really hope this didn't take place because this would be a mess.

You can't sanction a school based on inferences.

Technically Coach O could have and still can be hired by any team. Until he has a contract it's not official.
He could not mention LSU, if he did make contact.
So all he had to do was say if I coach this year I want you.

That being said I do not believe he made any contact with players. He will have plenty opportunities in the next few weeks to make a difference.

If this is true then it would be highly problematic for the program and if those recruits actually tweeted to other recruits about talking to Orgeron first then the paper trail would be more than established. Really hope this is rumor and speculation because if its not bullshite the program has a major compliance issue.
