Opinions on this defensive staff

Let me preface by saying I have no inside sources on this but I want to see the Rants general reaction if this ended up being our defensive staff. I don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility.

DL: Bo Davis
Safeties: Cooks
CB: Corey Raymond

Raymond is going to coach corners and safeties if he's coming back. It was a major problem he had with O.

I think we need an entirely new defensive staff. When you can't point to one player that has improved the entire season, that's just poor coaching. We've had two years of this and it's time to find someone that can come in and return us back to our glory days when we had one of the best defenses in the country!

It was Dave Aranda that hired Bill Busch as safeties coach under Les Miles

The reason I put together this combination is because there have been reports on TOS that House and Cooks will be retained and Raymond will be the CB coach.

I think if Raymond comes back to be the DB coach, the new DC is a DB background guy (Leonhard or Lake).
House will be a LB coach in the NFL next year, probably in Green Bay or LA/Chargers.
I just can’t believe Kelly is that stubborn or ignorant to bring him back. It’s been 2 years of barely competent to incompetent.

I wouldn't just dismiss it out of hand.
I really don't know what happened on D this year but it appeared to be a train wreck on all levels. Fundamentals were lacking. IMO, the talent was sub par for us. The schemes were odd.
Fix the fundamentals and upgrade the talent and maybe House gets it done.

Nope.
Aranda got Busch here in 2018, the year the NCAA added another on-field coach. Les had been gone since 2016.

Three of those names would be a big disappointment. House and Cooks were significant factors in one of or the worst defenses I have seen at LSU. Raymond is not a good on field coach and if hired it should be in an analyst or recruiting role LSU does not have the Jimmies and Joes on defense so a new DC is a must. House’s defense did not improve at all throughout the year and costs us at least a playoff birth. Without JD we were a .500 team in the SEC at best.

He wasn’t unemployed then. He is now and has no leverage .
