OPEN TRY OUTS

At what point would you announce open tryouts for anyone to help the OL situation?
If you laugh at this suggestion, note that you won't be laughing when we're 7-5 because we had three dings on the OL during critical games and lost those by a touchdown or less.
D can only carry us so far...This OL situation is far more serious than O is letting on. He may be jesting and joking, but it's keeping him up at night- at least I would think so...

What is it, ~3 weeks until the season?
Too long. The threads are getting bad.

Keep that gif handy. There will be a lot more dumbassery for a couple weeks.

Uhhhh....open try outs for offensive linemen is pointless. There are VERY VERY few athletic 6'-2"+, 280lb+ guys currently blazing up the intramural teams at the moment.......ever......
In an emergency, you evaluate lower-tiered dlinemen currently on the squad.
The walk-on, zero-to-hero story is ultra rare as well.

Do you think there are a bunch of 6'7" guys that weigh 300#'s that are enrolled at LSU that the team is not aware of?

and a guy off the street is going to prevent this from happening?

Now this is the dumbest shite.

Being an OL isn't something someone off the street can come in and perform at a D-I football level. I don't care how big they are.

No need to worry. They are going to take the red jersey off of Eating so he can get some hits in, since that's what it will be like during the season.
insert sarcasm...

Jesus. First the fan complaining about Etling wearing a non-contact jersey and now this.....
The retard is strong with the fan base lately.

Hell. Why bother with tryouts? Why not just set up some spotters at buffets around town?

Even if that happens it's still a laughable fricking suggestion to think that OPEN TRY OUTS would prevent this doomsday scenario.

Yep, BYU game can't get here soon enough

I have a pretty tolerance for silly threads.....
But, stop and think for a minute...
anyone with size and athletic ability will be playing somewhere. Believe it or not, the oline players are elite athletes for their size.
For example. BYU has a 410 lb player. He is huge....but he is a slug. There is no way he has an impact unless he loses weight and works on footwork for a couple of years.
No way a very large man could come off the street and contribute to the LSU oline in 3 weeks.
