“To have a lead in those games is more impressive than literally anything BK has done in his entire tenure at LSU”

I’m also pissed off about this season, but Kelly took half a football team that went 6-7 and won the SECW his first year at LSU. Kiffin had a much better team than that last year, and got a worse result.

If Kelly can’t win at LSU, then it’s because that style of hard-arse “Process” based coaching doesn’t work in CFB in the NIL era. You need a different toolset to get kids who’ve been paid already to buy in and play hard. Incidentally, that’s why Saban failed in NFL, and probably why he retired from Bama

You do not have the money for both of these things.

Even A&M, with all of the money in the world, didn't spend the money on a big name head coach as replacement after letting Jimbo go.

Saban isn't coming back people. I think it's time to let go after 20 years.

Buyout is first part, next part would be to get another bag to buy another coach... No matter what world some live in, you aren't buying out BK to take a chance on another up and coming coach. You truly CANNOT afford to miss on the next hire

You at least make a call. Scott has him on speed dial. I know it isn’t happening, but it would take something huge like that to gain the buyout funds.

I can't disagree with that.

I just think Saban doesn't want to get back into coaching. It would be cool for him to win his final title at the school that started it all for him, though.

In both cases he was coaching the FAR less talented team.

I would agree with less talent. I would not agree with FAR less talented. In both games they lost because of bad decisions Kiffin made.

Are we gonna rate coaches on moral victries now?

Mrs. Terry put the kabosh on Saban returning anywhere.

I really don't want to compete with UF or PSU this off season for a new coach either.

All of this (except paying players although we all know it was happening to some extent) was true and was also said before we fired Orgeron.

Do you know how much TV revenue has increased in the last 10 years?

The decision to fire him will all come down to how long it will take to recoup the costs. A winning program generates a ton of incremental revenue for the university, the state, and community. A losing program has the opposite effect.

He probably won't be fired this season or even next. But the economics aren't as cut and dry as some people make them out to be.

What about Saban as AD? He knows coaching, maybe not baseball, or basketball, but he knows how tog hire good football coaches. Give him a couple of years as AD, then retire. Is EE wife still alive, Candy.

We can only hope Kelly agrees to a reduced buyout.. But that won't happen because Kelly is a real solid gold a-hole.

Kiffin gives away games he has a lead in every season. Last season to LSU, this season to Georgia. LSU fans would be calling for his head within 2 seasons.

Kiffin is 1-2 wins better than BK with our resources. I think if he is the guy Woody has him keep Baker (Lane may prefer it also). Lane’s weakness is recruiting and he gets built in advantages at LSU and several La recruiters on staff. Not to mention, him and AT have a good working relationship

Lane would likely keep the defensive staff in place (mostly) unless Baker takes a HC job and takes guys with him.
