I was 10 years old and we were sitting in the old upper deck. My Dad walked in with a bag of oranges and his Old Charter and security asked him, "what's with the oranges?" Dad told them, "I'm hungry".

We chunked oranges off the upper deck, and most likely hit a few fans down there in the big money seats. The fog rolled in late in the game and up where we were, we could only hear parts of the game.

After the game, we got to go in the locker room and meet some of the players. I remember meeting Alan Risher, Eric Martin and the kicker, "Magic" Juan Bentonzos [sp?].

It was a magical night for sure in Tiger Stadium. Only other time it felt like that to me was when we beat Florida in 97.

Thanks for the videos. I never saw that game on TV.

I'll never forget that game. Earlier in the day we heard you couldn't buy an orange in the stores. Piles of them in the end zone. Then fog so thick you could barely see the field from the student section, and you couldn't see the upper deck.

Then went to the orange bowl and had a blast, but it was a tough game.

It was televised live on Pay-per-view on "Tigervision". Point of addressing that is if one was inclined, it might be available to obtain without too much effort.

I meant someone might have some old LSU tapes for sale. There was a guy "good ol Mac" who did a bunch.

But here you go. Play by play announcer none other than Paul Hornung.

I was in the student section for that one. Besides the oranges and the fog, I remember students rushing the field afterwards when the announcer warned them not to. I also remember the BRPD hitting students with night sticks as they came over the wall. That story made the Daily Reveille but not the Morning Advocate.

That next night we camped out all night at the stadium ticket office for Orange Bowl tickets going on sale Monday.

That Hilliard run after catch in Gainesville is a thing of beauty. Watching him was fun.

bad video but you get the picture

Very memorable game. People selling bags of oranges on the side of Nicholson

People were still in the seats in the 4th Q

Thanks for linking my video jack.

Here's my thread I created to share it last February. LINK

Some very funny moments in there that I pointed out. Still can't believe the stones on whoever that was that threw the drink in the cops face.

I was 10 and remember asking my dad why people were throwing oranges on the field.

You could smell oranges outside the stadium for days after the game...the fog was crazy at the end of the game too. Remember it well..

And when he scored and the oranges rained down on the field, my heart just lit up.

And a Hilliard juke that left 3 FSU defenders flatfooted and Bowden turning toward the stands with his arms out and a there's nothing that can be done to stop that look on his face.

No one was prepared for the thousands of oranges LSU fans would bring into the stadium with the intention of throwing them on the field to celebrate an Orange Bowl bid.

I was there with my Dad. I was a junior in HS.

We sat in the West Side upper deck and had oranges flying onto the field from behind us.
