Sorry Tiger Ree. This has nothing to do with Texas A&M.

I know a lot of you younger guys scratch your head when you hear us older guys regale you about the 1982 team. 8-3-1? Lost to State and Tulane of all teams? Bad,awful losses. But trust us,there was just something magical about that 1982 team. When they were at their best, they were as good as any team in America that year.

This game.. the loss to Miss State did take some of the starch out of the season. Now 7-1-1 and 12th after rising to 6th, LSU faced Florida State ranked 7th.But AD Bob Brodhead's Miami ties came to the rescue. The Orange Bowl committee decided the winner of the Florida State-LSU game would face the Big 8 Champion--which would be Nebraska. The loser would go to the Gator Bowl. Also LSU turned down an offer to move the game to afternoon for television.

No one was prepared for the thousands of oranges LSU fans would bring into the stadium with the intention of throwing them on the field to celebrate an Orange Bowl bid.

ETA: that's a lot of wind instruments in those highlights

One of my favorite games. Me and some friends used to sell peanuts and we were pulling oranges through/over the fence and selling them back to the students. When chief osceola put the spear in the turf it was on!

People were still in the seats in the 4th Q

My favorite memories of this game are the fog rolling over the west side stands from the river and the scoreboard reading "ET Phones Home" after Eric Martin's long TD catch.

Weird shite like this just doesn't happen in college football anymore and its a shame. I was showing some friends the pictures of the 2000 Tennessee game where the students were literally standing on the edges of the white edging on the field and the referees kept play like it was business as usual. Could you imagine them letting that slide now?

My dad took me to that game. I was 10 thinking why the heck is everyone throwing oranges all over the field?

One of the most fun games ever in TS. We were seated in the West Side upper deck and by the 4th quarter we couldn't see the field because of the fog.

I'm sorry to burst your bubble youngster, but the orange game, was Ole Miss, 1970...Archie's last game, my senior year...think we intercepted him 4 times(my memory, haven't looked it up, be gentle if I'm wrong), of course, he was playing with a cast on his arm, what a competitor. By halftime, field was covered with oranges cause we were going to the orange bowl.....that was the last time I was in Tiger Stadium. As Coach O says, Geaux Tigers....

I was there. We had one of those green mesh bags of oranges. I'll admit I threw a few.

My first LSU team. Dad got tickets and took me to my first game against Oregon st to start the season and got to See Dalton and James in their debuts. Like you said, that team really was fun.

Second game that season was the FSU night game when the fog rolled in and the oranges fell.

To this day, I hate Nebraska as much as anyone. Three losses to those guys plus yanking player after player out of the state during the 80's...
