Probably a business decision. Less free seats they have to give LSU and can sell to actual fans. It's all about the dollar now at every school. Ole Miss doesn't bring their full band usually to Baton Rouge.
What? The seats come from out of LSU's allotment. It does nothing to injure Ole Miss' financials.

It's pretty standard to let the other teams band march if they bring the full band and pretty shitty if Ole Miss doesn't let them

I remember around 10 years or so ago LSU changed the policy to where they weren't going to let other bands march and everyone started bitching up a storm and they reversed that policy. I think they said something about it being a safety thing to cover themselves which was obviously bs

Didn’t LSU try to implement a policy a few years ago to not let opposing bands perform at halftime?
We relented after some pushback.

It used to be supper common.

But now most bands only bring a small contingent to away games (like we do with our Pep band). The bands tickets come out of the allotment to the school. They would much rather those tickets to go to boosters and not have to also pay to get the band to the game. So when those small pep bands go they aren't marching. But when teams bring their full band they normally intend on marching and almost all home teams agree. It's why the Ole Miss band director made sure to note that it is not their (the band's) decision because it is kind of looked down upon in the band community to deny the other band the time to march,

All of this is true, but I will add one thing that won't look good for LSU.

Joe Alleva made it his personal mission to stop visiting bands from marching, not only in Tiger Stadium, but in every stadium in the SEC. I don't know why, but he made up stories about bad band behavior to keep visiting bands from marching in Tiger Stadium. Then, when he was called out on it, he instituted a ridiculous "Tiger Band first, visiting band after" policy that isn't followed anywhere in college or high school football.

The man was a menace.

Don't know why Ole Miss is doing this, but LSU has done the same thing in the past.

It’s Ole Miss’s venue therefore it’s Ole Miss’s call. Yea it’s not friendly and is a jab at LSU.

At the end of the day, it’s their venue and their call. TGBFTL is going to get to play in the stands.

What will we demand next? To petition for LSU to get to march pregame in visitor stadiums? That never happens either.

I *think* the issue here is that Ole Miss is retiring someone's number at halftime or having sone other sort of ceremony and there is not enough time for that ceremony and 2 band performances.

This past week there would not have been time at our game due to the Alexander ceremony.

Darn, that’s too bad! I heard TGBFTL were planning to drop weed seedings from their pants onto the field during the LSU lettering formation.

Yes. Visiting bands will sometimes perform at halftime. It looks like according to the SEC rules it's up to the home team AD as to whether or not that can occur.

Well they are in their right to not let us play then. I'd agree with them.
I don't want to see Ole Piss's band playing at halftime in Tiger Stadium, and they obviously feel the same way about us playing in their stadium.
I don't see the problem here.

Did Florida bring their full band?

Every time Auburn brings their full band, they March. Bama too. Southern did. So did LA Tech. It's very common.

Devil's advocate here: If I am old miss, i would not want my rival to perform at halftime on my field.

I fail to see how more entertainment at halftime would bother anyone. Unless they mortgaged the stadium to get Red Panda.

Tennessee full band marched here 3 years ago because they performed their annual circle drill in Tiger Stadium that day.

Full visiting bands always were allowed to perform at half time at LSU, certainly in the 70s. Aggies always brought their band, as did Alabama, Ole Miss, etc. I assume it has always been that way.
