It was either '64 or '65, saw LSU-Ole Miss afternoon. That game was followed...as best I remember an evening game between MSU and AL.

The only certain thing I remember is being badly wasted. Oh, we lost...the rest is fuzzy.

I was at the 87 game in Jackson. Seemed to be 60-70 percent LSU fans.

Sammy Martin had a 20-30 yard TD run that he ran about 90 yards on!

in this highlight video from LSU Ole Miss in Jackson in '79 you can see at the end that the LSU band is next to where the new end zone was being added to make seating go from 47.000 to 62,000

Saw LSU vs. Ole Miss in Jackson around 1980. John Fourcade was QB for Ole Miss. Tigers won an exciting, close game.

Had heard of the problem with speeding tickets as soon as you crossed into Miss. Was cautious to drive at least 5 mph under limit on I 55 entering Miss. The welcome to Mississippi sign had been "enhanced" by Tiger fans with I believe Tiger Bait, among other things.

My caution to no avail. At least 20 State Police cars pulling over every LA plate. Topic of conversation before kickoff centered around the tickets. Everyone that drove up for the game in our section got a ticket.

Following week called the appropriate Court. As a LSU Law grad I thought maybe they would give me a break. Wrong. $250.00 plus.

Only time I somewhat regretted the win. I tried joking with the judge and she was having none of it.

I was at that 47-0 game.

If I recall LSU won or shared the sec and the punters on the sideline were launching punts into the stands in celebration.

I've been to a couple games in Jackson. That stadium rivaled Little Rock for the crappiest stadium I've seen LSU play in,

If I am not mistaken they played some home games in Tiger Stadium vs. LSU?

You are not mistaken - when I was at LSU 56-60, they played some of what would be "home" games at LSU.

Yes, Veterans Memorial Stadium
I grew up near Jackson and went to college across the street from the Stadium at Millsaps and later parked in the parking area for Med School at UMC. Got to see lots of USM/State/Ole Miss games there growing up because free tickets were pretty easy to come by.

I was there in 1980 (I was in 5th grade) when State beat a Bear Bryant coached Alabama 6-3 with a late 4th quarter goal line stand. I remember in the second quarter Bryant substituted in an entire 11 man defense. People in the stands were saying "that's his second half boys right there, he's having to put them in early".

My freshman year in college in 89, Saw Ole Miss get up early, I think 17-0 on a Ray Perkins coached Alabama team. Alabama won 60 something to 20 something.

Also Saw LSU/Ole Miss in 1991. LSU won. The last game in the series at jackson was the next year in 1992.

If I remember right, these games ended because of money and politics. The city of jackson/stadium commision wanted more to host the games after the stadium expansion, the schools said go pound sand. The last Egg Bowl there was in 1990

I started going to the games as an 8 year old in 1966. Back than we used to play Miss. St. in BR every year and Ole Miss used to play their home game with us in Jackson. It was because of small stadiums on the Mississippi campuses and because they were able to sell a lot more tickets in BR and Jackson. We used to go to the games in Jackson all the time. There was a lot of talk last week about the big comeback against Auburn. We had a bigger one against Ole Miss in Jackson in the late 70's. We were losing 21-0 at halftime and came back to win 28-21. I was there. It was toward the end of the Charley Mac era. Ole Miss had good teams back then but Miss. St. did not. We used to beat them like a drum. One exception was a game in the late 60's in BR. The game was close at the end. MSU was driving. There was some confusion after a penalty and the down marker was not changed back and MSU was screwed out of a down. The Tigers held on to win. Turns out the down marker was being operated by a big Tiger fan named Goober Morse who was like the Big Ragoo of the 60's and 70's. Great memories. And the LSU-Ole Miss game was always on Halloween weekend. Halloween meant a chill in the air and the LSU - Ole Miss game. We had to watch the Billy Cannon replay before going out trick or treating. But I digress.

I went to a lot of games in Jackson in late 70's and early 80's. I hated the place but it was better that either field at State or Ole Miss.
One thing that I really disliked was the angle of the seats. It was very steep. If you fell you would not stop till you hit the field. It was terrible.

I went once with my Uncle, we sat behind the Ole Miss Student section and this frat dude kept turning around and hollering, my uncle finally had enough and went to the concession stand bought a large coke with no ice, came back to his seat an accidentally dumped the whole thing on him. It was funny as shite, he didn't holler at us anymore.

My first year at LSU was 1969. I was in the band, and we made the trip to Jackson to play Ole Miss. We should have beat them, but we lost by a couple of points. That Archie Manning guy was too elusive. Defense would pressure him and he slipped away almost every time. Aggravating!

This lose probably cost us the NC that year. A win and we would have played Texas in the Cotton Bowl.

The 19th century games of the series, at least in Mississippi, were in Vicksburg and Meridian.

We won the first game in Jackson in 1907. We didn't play in Jackson again until 1931, although we played in Oxford 3 times during the intervening (all pre-SEC) period.

Although we played almost every year after that (no game in '32, '43 or '44), they were all in Baton Rouge, except Jackson in '34, until the Oxford game in 1952. Even taking out the Sugar Bowl, the games were heavily slanted to Louisiana games until a regular rotation started in 1965 - basically after the 1934 game in Jackson, we played 25 games in Louisiana (including the Sugar Bowl) versus only 3 games in Mississippi, all in Oxford, until the 1965 Jackson game.

Then, every game @Ole Miss was in Jackson until the 1989 Oxford game. The back-to-back Jackson games in '91 and '92 were the last of the series to be played there.

My assumption has always been, much like the Legion Field and War Memorial - off-campus games - this was, to a degree, a bone thrown at the alumni of those large cities and an effort to keep those stadiums viable.
