Interesting how they are honoring Bert Jones at the LSU-OM game this Saturday.

After the game, there were signs at the state line put up by Ole Miss people saying Now entering Louisiana, set your watch back one second. The claimed the clock ran out before the last play. About the same you would have been hearing from Auburn if the replay hadn't changed the outcome. Wonder what would have happened if we had replay in 1972.

What a great ending! I remember everyone celebrating in the stands for a long time after the game ended.

I was there!!!!
Best memory of the game was of the rebel flags flying in the south EZ
As Fratesi knocked the ball down in the play before the TD. We were devestated for a few seconds then this rumble starts into full throat roar as we realized there was 1 second left.
When the game ended, everyone stood in place yelling for many minutes.
Still get goose bumps thinking about it.

Honestly, I lost my job over the game. Was running a filling station at night while in college. Listening to it on the radio, when we won, I closed the station early and headed to celebrate. When I showed back up Monday evening after class, the boss canned me.

His father, who actually owned the operation, was a big fan, and told his father he didn't blame me, he'd have hauled arse to celebrate, too. Didn't matter, boss did not like me, I did not like him. Mutual separation.

Love the straight on extra point kick. No one knew what a soccer style kick was back then.

What I remember is all the Johnny Rebs ( No PC police back then) screaming & literally throwing their helmets over & into the hedges that lined the end zone back then. Been a long time since I've seen an entire opposing team that pissed. And afterwards, to top it off, this one 30'ish Johnny Reb fan was getting smashed around by 5 LSU fans. Older men. And then BRPD walks up, starts pulling LSU fans off, tossing them to the side, and grabbing the Reb fan, told him in very non PC language that he was under arrest for inciting a riot. As the saying goes, the look on his bloody face was priceless. Can still see Bert standing at mid field, hands on his hips, laughing his arse off.

Looks like they're gettin' ready to engage in illegal activities of that day. 66 looks like he's undressing 90.

I was 12 years old when that game was played, me and my three brothers listened to the game on the radio with my Dad at home.

Still remember it like it was yesterday.

LC

ETA: Has Brad Davis ever been back to Tiger Stadium? Hell, he's only an hour away in Opelousas.

wow, listening to john fegurson on radio, wow. I always thought Ferguson was one of the best, but I may be a little prejudice, whatever, that was cool listening to that.

I was in the Army sitting up on the third floor roof of Company C at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico as I listed to this game being broadcast by WWL. Thanks for the clip!
