The actual state issue sign on I 55 read:
"You are about to enter Louisiana.
Turn your clock back four seconds".

My 3 day old son (my 4th grad) was just home from the hospital and I was listening to the game in the carport to give him and Mom some quiet time. There was so much noise and confusion at the end, it took several minutes before I was sure we won.

Was my first year at LSU and was at this game in the student section. It was absolutely one of those moments that you never forget.

Me, too...

Yeah, I stayed to the end (of course, back then we could go in&out with student ID ... beers and bongs at half-time!)

I remember when the stadium was all black& white...

And what kind of miserable twats down-vote a cool old story of beating Ole Miss?

He is at every game from what I understand. He has been honored on the field for this game multiple times over the years.

There was a sign on highway 19 going into Mississippi that said "If La is the Sportsman's Paradise why do you come to Mississippi?"

Somebody put a smaller sign under it that said "To take a sh-'."

I cried I laughed so hard.

This was after the 72 game, this thread made me think of this. Sorry for the hijack.

After the game, there were signs at the state line put up by Ole Miss people saying Now entering Louisiana, set your watch back one second. The claimed the clock ran out before the last play.
What Ole Miss fans always conveniently forget is that just a year prior on their home field, LSU was driving for the winning FG and with 0:07 left, ran a quick out pass to the sidelines that put the Tigers in FG range. But the clock kept running, time expired and LSU was not allowed to attempt what would have been the game-winning FG and lost, 24-22.

Paybacks are hell.

It was a great game, too. Ole Miss led 21-0 and then 24-7 in the fourth quarter. LSU came back in the final minute to make it 24-20, went for the two-point conversion (so they could win it with a FG) and made it - then recovered the onsides kick, but after a couple of completed passes got screwed out of a chance to try the FG.

LSU and Ole Miss played some great games back then.

Our seats are on the 10 yard line half way up the old bowl. We have had them since 1971. Perfect seats to watch Brad Davis haul in that pass. Great memories. Old Miss fans all over that section of the stadium. Talk about some sick people.

I was there in person. On the West Side, 5 yard line, South Side, a few rows up. (Still in High School)

Who else on here was in attendance?

What a great ending! I remember everyone celebrating in the stands for a long time after the game ended.
And everybody was still there. Nobody left.

Seeing all the people in the crowd in suit and ties is kind of funny.

Three things you should know:

1) I was there and a student smoking weed in the top row of the student section along with a couple hundred other people. It was socially acceptable at the time.

2) A few years later as a rookie Baltimore Colt, Bert Jones wound up getting married to the hottest woman I ever knew (from Opelousas).

3) Brad Davis was an idiot and I never could figure out how on earth he got through that part of medical school that allowed him to eventually become a dentist. Also, he committed simple battery on a number of his fellow students that cost the taxpayers money in settlements to shut them up and protect the football team.
