Great perspective. And it's been compounded by injuries to Watson, Bush, Broussard, Bryce, Smith, Labas, and Storz.

We just have to put it all together coming down the home stretch.

Did Gilbert pitch at all this weekend?

There’s pitchers on this team with electric stuff, major league arm talent. I believe Dunn is a great pitching coach. You can coach mechanics, but one thing that can’t be coached is the mind. thats something the players themselves have to become accustomed to. And as from what I see that’s the problem, our pitchers get rattled very easily if they give up a couple of hits. The Same thing applies in the batters box, our hitters do not look comfortable at all. And in this league if you go up guessing at every at bat and worrying about what’s coming then you’ve already lost.

He didn't travel with the team to S Carolina. He has a "sore arm" which possibly he's been trying to hide all season. Maybe it's why his velo is down so much from last season.

a complete collapse of our pitching caused all three losses at Carolina. complete and utter failure in pitching.

Beck and Fontenot are now shakey after Tulane last week and today. So is Bain.

I think the main thing this team is lacking is on field leadership.

I am often guilty of thinking every season can be a "championship" season with LSU baseball.

Coach Bertman went to two consecutive CWS in 1986 and 1987. A year later in 1988, the team won just 39 games and lost 21 games. Missed the postseason. The program rebounded in 1989 thru 1991 reaching the CWS each season.

Skip did not go to Omaha every year. 11 times in 18 seasons his team did. But it wasn't every year.

Paul Mainieri gets a pass this year and next year at minimum. Frustrations with fans occur because there is a feeling of entitlement. Every program has down years. We have to accept that this years production is going to happen occasionally regardless of who the head coach is.

Let's just take the sour medicine and swallow. We should better more experienced talent next season.

We leave Fontenot in and that’s a win today. Coach Maineiri outsmarts himself sometimes and over thinks things. The umpire was horrible today calling balls on dozens of strikes that could have ended that game early.

Well of course I mean watching the Nats play right now. I didn’t say they will be major leaguers, I said they have the arm talent which means the potential to be. A Low to mid 90s fastball, sharp curveball, and a decent changeup for kids that aren’t even fully developed yet shows that kind of arm talent. But until they learn to have poise, and control those pitches then no they won’t be major leaguers. A great example is cam sanders

Combination of a lot of tbings. Pitching, no run support at times and injuries. I don't always agree with PM's approach/philosophy, at the same time, I dont think he should be fired.

You should be. It’s LSU baseball. We are supposed to dominate like modern day Alabama football.

First and foremost it's just a down year. We lost a good bit from last years squad and the injury bug has got us. My two criticisms are 1) despite what manieri and the blind loyalists say widweek games do matter and the losses may end up costing us this year. 2) We need to hire a real hitting coach. Look I think Paul is a great coach but that doesn't mean he can surround himself with any Tom Dick or harry and be successful. We need good assistants to.

That's being as presumptuous as saying we now lose x amount of games because of this. One bad pitch, and it's a grand slam. We don't know what happens even in hindsight. It's easy for us couch coaches to say different when things go wrong. My complaint would be CPM only warning a pitcher at a time in some key situations. Beck comes in and can't find the strikezone, have someone else ready. But like I said before, still don't know if it works or not regardless.

Dunn is not "the best pitching coach in the ncaa" like everyone wants to believe. He does good when he has major league talent and can just watch the morkout. When he needs to develop pitchers, he is not all that. Before you all give him credit for Poche....it was his Cape Cod coach that helped him after his junior season.

you suck
