I’m not for firing any Coaches.... but why does it seem like the wheels have come off the bus?
Is it the loss of the kid who was supposed to be the best pitcher this year?
Is it the injuries finally taking a toll?
Or a little of both?

Loss of best pitcher sounds reasonable. Amateurs as coaches in too many spots. Like hitting.

We’re very young, our best arm is out for the season, and we have a shitload of yes men as assistant coaches who don’t really have any business being in the position they’re in.

Eta: and a few key injuries

Well there’s a lot that has happened this year, especially with injuries. But as I always tell people from experience, it’s baseball. And that’s part of why it’s my favorite sport, that same team that just swept us could get their asses handed to them in a mid week game while LSU sweeps the whole week. I have faith in this team, I am far away from giving up.

Just some random thoughts here:
- We're not dominant in any facet of the game. But some games a pitcher throws a great game. Or our bats work.
- Injuries have been huge going back to Walker in the CWS. Keeps us from having chemistry. Puts players in roles they aren't best at.
- Every season has bumps. This weekend was a canyon. Really disappointing because I thought coming out of last weekend we had some much needed momentum.
- Gilbert and Slaughter have been letdowns.

Dunn is not "the best pitching coach in the ncaa" like everyone wants to believe. He does good when he has major league talent and can just watch the morkout. When he needs to develop pitchers, he is not all that. Before you all give him credit for Poche....it was his Cape Cod coach that helped him after his junior season.

I think it’s a perfect storm of bad luck, because I want to believe it’s a fluke.
Lost the most important piece of the pitching staff, had injuries to critical players, lost hitting coach without much time to replace. All of that facing a veteran squad would be a tough obstacle. All of that piled on a very young squad and you see the results.

Lost entire starting rotation, entire infield (with Smith's injury), and best power threat. Simple, really

While I’m not qualified to give a meaningful opinion either way, virtually everyone who is seems to disagree with you.

It's just a down year. We were due for one.

I'm hoping the team will start to gel and then get hot towards the end of the season like they normally do.

Limited talent level to go along with injuries to key players. Just a average SEC Team this year

Young and injury plagued. Still nationally ranked up until this weekend. Relax. Can never have 90s type domination anymore. Be glad it happened. National runner up last year. Still a regular in Omaha.

Most expected this year to be a down year.

We lost our entire starting rotation, our senior middle infield, and our experienced catcher behind the plate.

Now throw in the injuries to Broussard & Smith.

There’s still time to turn it around if Smith can come back healthy. It won’t be easy with series vs Ole Miss and Arkansas, but we’re still only a game back of the lead in the West.

My hopes as well. Hopefully we'll look back at this weekend, scratch our heads, and wonder how could we have played so poorly.

At this point, I would take my best nine hitters and throw defense to the wind.

We lost our whole weekend rotation, and 90% of our position players who were upperclassmen.

You don’t have to replace all that and expect to be a dominant like last year. Just need a year for the young guys to get some experience.
