You get the right player and your offense breaks records. Jayden was a special. Burrow was special. The play calls don’t have to be special when the guy with the ball is.
And you get the right scheme and play real football you keep your program in the top 10 for 10+ years. There’s only so many burrows/daniels. This is what the fans wanted.

It's a combination of things and it's not entirely the O line. It's scheme and personnel. Nussmeier is not an RPO type of QB, he's a passer who will run only as a last, and I mean, last option. Running backs are taking too much time in deciding where to run. Scheme is hurting and formation is telegraphing where the run if it's coming is going. If I see Taylor on a wing in a running situation, I'm thinking run
At least one other personon here gets it...
When Nicholls stuffs our runs it is not because we misjudged the talent of the entire OL and RB crew. Our scheme sucks. We are running a RPO with a QB who is not a RPO dude...
We are not playing smash mouth football

We are running an air raid Rpo offense with a pro style qb. Our rpo option with the running back only involves runs in between the tackles. The qb is not a run option. Which puts more pressure on the interior run scheme.
I basically see two run plays. 1) HB dive behind the center
2) quick toss
I haven’t watch in slow motion but it doesn’t look like they are doing much pulling, stretch blocking etc. The run schemes seem very vanilla and look like the Eagles tush push every run.

There is none and hasn't been since cbk took over and that is an issue....history shows lsu with a high winning percentage win they run the ball for over 150yds or more. Every coach should know this upon entry and make running the ball a focus in lsu football

We have to get the ball outside the tackles with more creative runs because it’s obvious at this point that they can’t run block like they can pass block.
We did some of this last night, but hardly any against USC.

The struggle this year is very difficult to understand other than maybe the blocking scheme and vision of backs does not compliment each other meaning: If Williams is a better gap scheme runner but our offensive line is better at zone blocking then its not a compliment.
True, but this just makes it all the more infuriating. Either we aren’t scouting to scheme, or we aren’t scheming to roster.
Literally what you pay coaches to do.

This is the most troubling thing I have seen about this team.
The defense is showing improvement
We have a punt returner
The passing game is legit
The punters have been solid, I was really worried about this
The running game has been awful

We have a run game????????

Getting whipped physically.

Lol. We are not running Hal mummie air raid. You don’t need a qb to run to be able
To run RPO. THE read on a zone read and the read on a vertical rpo are NOT the same. Albeit the first play options on both those reads is a hb dive.
We also have horizontal RPOS like we did with DENBROCK. Different read than a vertical RPO.
Nuss has wnough mobility to run some
Zone reads to keep defenses honest.

We had Diggs but coach ran him off by wanting to split his reps with a mediocre running back Josh Williams
Having Logan Diggs wouldn't help this offense one lick.

Another issue that I heard Richard Dickson mention on Hannigrif’s podcast this week is we shift the receivers in tight and hence clog up the running lanes even more. He said this was a Denbrock carryover.
I'm not sure about receivers but we do it with tight ends and all of them struggle in run blocking so it's a net negative to do so. We'd do better to spread the defense out and attempt to run draws vs trying to power over them with tight ends.

You need to realize how special JD5 is. Oline did not give up sacks because That Kid was running for tuddys.
LSU had 64 rushing yards against Nichols. This is a red flag.

Seriously, Nicholls Fricking State!
Just sit back and watch what happens now against the SEC! (What's going to miraculously happen overnight to make it better?

I see this board is still confused about the differences between a typical RPO and a read option
