he’s more LSU than literally any other candidate out there
And that makes him the best qualified candidate why? Because he’s one of us? I have nothing against the guy personally, but call it what it is, nepotism. It was a lazy arse hire by LSU that I fear will end up hurting us down the road. Landry’s grubby fingerprints are all over this. He wanted a guy that he could control, and that’s exactly what he got.

I don't know if Verge will be great or terrible. I'm concerned the tennis player/Dillon thing may rear its head at some point but who knows. Obviously, I hope he does awesome.
One thing is for sure.... He will be better than Alleva.

I was. Emmett wanted Mitch Barnhardt but the good ol boys torpedoed that even with the great hire of Saban.
Skip was a disaster as AD (Smoke, getting cheap with Pat Henry, not hiring Jimbo in the building vs Les).

I heard his interview with Moscona. He sounds smart to me.

What's his plan on navigating the new revenue sharing and disbursement issue?
What are his opinions on private equity and athletics being run separately from the university?
In light of the revenue sharing and the significant hit it will take on LSU's costs. What steps does he have in mind to increase revenue or reduce costs? Does he have any plans on sacrificing non-revenue sports to protect Big 3?
These are the types of questions that should be asked. Not just wrapping it up with "Well, my brother knows him from back when and we think he's a good guy." and "one of us" mentality.
eta: I hope he does well but you have to call a spade a spade. This is all a move to increase Gov. Landry's influence over LSU; not because Verge is the best candidate.

Yes, both of Verge’s parents were in education. Father was a strict disciplinarian and principal at New Iberia Freshman High before it became Westgate High. Verge has seen everything a person could possibly see at LSU, some of which I’m sure he’s never wanted to see.
There isn’t a thing that could be thrown at him at this point and him not know how to handle it. He has a ton of people he’s met over the years that he can utilize going forward. I didn’t think he’d be the choice for other reasons, but I don’t sweat it. He’ll do a good job as LSU has been his entire adult life and does not want to let it down.

AD should primarily oversee football, let you the associate ad's help with the other sports. pretty sure this is what woody did, he just got a little too involved with football everyday operations. hire a good coach and don't set a bunch of money on fire, it should be a good tenure.

A lot of the guys that worked under him went on to be ADs at other places though. So despite the legitimate things you listed, he did something right.

I dont need to give examples either, there are plenty out there, at all levels. Do a little research bro.

My older brother played ball with Verge and Corey for that matter. He was in that huddle when the odds were against them and knows his character up close and for years. Verge is all heart. He was on the field with Verge when he had 5 ints in 1 football game back in the day. For those of you who claim Verge isnt smart, he had a A/B gpa in hs who had excellent parents. Verge Sr was a principal and his mom i think taught school also. Contrary to what some saying here that Verge is dumb couldn't be more wrong. He enrolled at LSU on an academic scholly if im not mistaken. His perseverance and hard work ethic earned him a starting roles at LSU on defense. He held records for 2 yrs leading the history books at LSU in tackles. May still be a record today. He has been at LSU forever. This is his retirement promotion. He has worked for LSU for over 30 yrs. Id say he has plenty experience of how LSU beats. From what I know, he will do the job as AD to the best of his ability. He is a "football guy". Yes he is administration but his emphasis is football. Thats big. Say what you will about this and that and he knows where all the skeletons are buried Yada Yada. Some may hate him but I believe he will do his best for football.
Cool story Verge.

You idiots keep judging an AD's job performance on hires alone.
Skip as AD ushered the department into the 21st century financially and got it running smoothly again after he cleaned up Joe Dean's mess. Skip purged all of Dean's "good ole boys" from the department and turned it into a money maker. "Disaster" is the last word I would use to describe Skip as AD

Yeah seems like a real good guy, upstanding to condone sexual abuse and domestic violence.
