Not LSU related but Arkansas has added 3 grad transfers so far. They are also in the running for the Missouri State transfer we are recruiting.

My goodness. With all this number crunching for teams, how many Hog players are getting processed if they have already added 3 transfers?

One is a kid from san Francisco, supposed to be a really good catcher. Im sure van horn doesnt care if he has to process some kids. Unfortunately i dont think Mainieri is as ruthless.

Tiger Rag

Here is an article from last week about where a bunch of guys are going for summer ball. We are sending a ton of guys to the Northwoods League, if/when it starts up.

Since the publication of this article, the Prospect League has cancelled its season.

The South Florida League is set to start on like the 12th of this month.

I will update this more tomorrow but Dylan Crews took himself out of the draft and is headed to LSU.

That may just be a negotiating tactic on Crews' part.

It's not. He's not the only person this year to do it. South Carolina and Virginia have recruits that have opted out. Florida State has a current player that opted out. All of them top 200 draft prospects (reasonably could have been drafted).

Virginia has had a few guys do it over the past few years.

Crews was always rumored to want top half of the first round money. But his stock kept dropping to where now he was projected to go in the 2nd round. With the decreased financial flexibility due to few picks for each team, it's unlikely that any team would be able to stack their picks in such a way to pay him what he wants. Doing so would mean he'd be the only real prospect they drafted. And no one would do that for a projected 2nd rounder.

Plus, with bonuses being split up over the next three years (100k this year, then the remainder split 50/50 over the two following years) he could play at LSU for three years and get a full bonus at the same time he would get a full bonus if he got drafted this year.

Yeah, Arkansas is up to 4 grad transfers now. 2 Catchers (one of them is from Eastern Kentucky, he played at Mizzou previously as well), and two pitchers (one of them is a two way player).

The Missouri State transfer we were recruiting is going to San Jacinto. The NCAA not giving the blanket transfer waiver probably played into that decision.

I can’t believe the NCAA isn’t expanding rosters at least a little.

I guess there is still a chance. There will probably be some renewed enthusiasm for it after the draft.

But there are A LOT of mid major coaches that don't want it to happen because they see places like Arkansas loading up on grad transfers and see expanding the rosters as disproportionately helping the power conferences.

Eric Walker has announced his transfer destination is Oklahoma State. He will reunite with former LSU catcher Brock Mathis.

Good for him. I hope he tears it up. He certainly deserves it. I'll be following him closely.

Can already hear the bitching from some LSU fans, blaming Mainieri if Walker succeeds.

But seriously, glad Walker found a spot. He wasn't going to get meaningful innings here.

Really wish Walker the best. His control was fantastic before the injury. It's a shame he got hurt.

His mechanics were instantly recognizable from the time he toed the bullpen rubber. It was like watching a tape playing on a continuous loop. Wish him much luck in the future.
