Once Landry made his comments about Woodward not hiring the next coach, I don’t think the BOS had any choice but to let Woodward go. The AD needs to be on solid ground when he goes after the next coach. Landry cut his legs out.

Now the issue is getting a permanent AD in place ASAP.. which might be tough when we haven’t even named a new president yet. Not ideal to have this much upheaval at a fairly critical junction, but here we are.

FWIW I think there’s an argument to be made that Woodward’s biggest responsibility - bigger than one football hire - was maintaining relationships with the donors. By all accounts, he was good at this part. But it’s entirely possible that the Kelly buyout has soured these relationships.. in which case this may have been inevitable regardless of Landry’s public criticism.

sounds like mutual parting and Woodward will get a healthy severance...

This might do it for me. College football that I grew up watching is a thing of the past. Now we’re mixing shitty Louisiana politics into it?

Woodward was the problem throwing the bank at Kelly , not doing his homework . ND people were very OK with him leaving . Interesting that he also got Jimbo after I believe a 6 and 5 year at FSU a monster A&M contract . Makes you wonder where his allegiances lie … maybe with agents ??

It’s 100% a political hit. frick Landry. Can’t believe I voted for this St. Martin Parish good old boy.

To be fair though, I didn’t support him in the primary. Louisiana is also going to be doomed.

The big boosters are the ones that fired him lmao. He’s wasting their money and they are tired of it.

No, they weren’t.

Anybody remember what Ed O's buyout was? You think these "big money" donors were going to let SW go to bat a 3rd time?

Shocking, I say, shocking!

Overheard comment from former AD Joe Alleva: do you miss me yet?

That’s always been the case and LSU’s biggest problem.

This is a dumb take . The money that donor spent to buy out Kelly is less money for other things like NIL

Landry neutered him on a national stage. It was inevitable, he waited quits or gets fired. He won’t be able to do the job effectively.

With all this stupidity going on, we lose any advantage of firing Kelly in-season, unless there already a deal with the next coach (doesn’t sound like it).
