Could they sign that Florida State SS signee for 3.125M, have 3M count against their pool and get the 2019 compensatory pick for not signing Turang?

Sorry if I missed it but what’s the story on this? Was it like a sign for 10k or here’s the door situation?

I don’t think that’s how it worked. I believe if they didn’t sign him at all they would lose the entire slot money for that pick. Thus, they would have less to sign Turang. My guess is they had an agreement before they drafted him.

Idk how it scales down but if they were to not sign Turang then they would lose the slot value of his pick but they would gain the 29th pick in next year's draft

This is the shitty aspect of the draft and why you see most underclassmen sign because they lose any sort of leverage if they return for their senior year. The teams can offer college seniors the minimum of $10,000 like that because where else are they going to go?

I would imagine this David Fry is at best normally a 15th round pick or so, but this way the Brewers can still get a guy they covet and save money to use on their early selections

The deadline might as well be 4 months away, thats what it feels like. The onger we go without hearing about gray signing the better
