We have got to be the most sensitive about what time of day kickoff is. Just be thankful that in winning time it will be dark and comfortable outside. The end.

That's because, to my knowledge, LSU is the only program where the kickoff time is part of the tradition.

It's no different than Alabama and Tennessee holding the 3rd Saturday in October to play their game as a tradition. The game can be played on any Saturday during the season just like, technically, LSU can start a home game at any time of the day.

TV money had enticed LSU to be more flexible on its tradition. But is still a longstanding tradition LSU fans hold sacred

It gives us another valuable opportunity to claim we are the victim of something.

Not on this issue.

LSU was playing night games WELL before TV was invented. It's not some recent tradition created just for the sake of creating a tradition (like the 18 and 7 "traditions"). It's been something that has spanned decades. LSU chooses to play its home games at night.

What forced deviation from that tradition was TV money. But that doesn't mean LSU or their fans should simply abandon the tradition altogether.

Tell me about it. We’re so bad we need to make threads about it.

Thank God for fans like you.

Then ask the team if they would rather play a day game or night game in Tiger stadium. It does matter and they do GAF!

You are knocking it out of the park. Thanks

To my knowledge, there were no other schools committed to night games as us. It's our tradition and it has been trampled underfoot by TV contracts.

If you live in South LA, you understand how this started. It is extremely hot down here and if you were at some of last few notable day games, you would know that.

When the LSU games were broadcast on 870, a huge portion of the country could listen to LSU on the radio. That was how our fanbase and traditions were built.

TV changed that and it is really only since the 90's and the CBS and SEC contract, which everyone loves to talk about, which was terrible in its later years. CBS was getting the best deal in Sports and dictating who they wanted at their Prime spot.

Our tradition of night games began when LSU decided to add lights to the stadium; when a large portion of the state still didn't have electricity or indoor plumbing. Traditions are what made CFB great.

Greg Sankey hates us.
The referees are out to get us.
The SEC wants to throw us out of the SEC (never happening).
We can't play "Neck."
The league won't let us have night kickoffs.
It's "Us against the world" (The world doesn't care).
Childish arguments.

Sensitive my arse. We used to start every home game at 8:00 p.m. Not seven, eight o’clock. Game today takes three hours. Game wouldn’t be over till eleven, and the TV folks just can’t have that. I remember it well, and it was fricking great! Everything about it was better. Like everything it’s all about the $$$$$$$$

Do they bitch about the noise maker ban instituted by the SEC, with the exception to StarkVegas?

Do they bitch about the schedule getting fricked for years to respect the tradition of a select chosen few?

frick them and their bitching. Since 1938 we play at night in Death Valley. Our traditions matter.

Yeah, because his actions scream reconciliation and cooperation.

Patrick Peterson was in bounds. The whole damn Gump line was holding, and the Kentucky game was too big to call it a dead ball.

They literally threatened this and then postponed a vote, all because LSU didn’t break a retroacted rule.

They protect other schools’ traditions with vigor and won’t do the same for us.

Amen, the late kickoff time was instrumental in the development of the fan base, ensuring the that everyone was home to hear the game on the radio after the days labor. LSU built their fan culture by catering to blue collar farm and plant workers.

"Greg Sankey hates us."
IDK if Sankey "hates" us. I doubt he loves us. Regardless, he's an inept SEC commissioner and needs to go.

"The SEC wants to throw us out of the SEC (never happening)."
Then why broach the idea? Nothing we've done (or hinted at doing) compares with some of the stuff SEC schools have done over the years and NEVER was it suggested we kick a school out of the conference. Wanna talk about "childish" acts - here you go.

And FTR, it is not as far-fetched as you think. Only needs 11 votes. The SEC noobs don't care if we're booted. That's four. The UTenn and UGA presidents are on-record as ok with it. Sankey is ostensibly just acting on the will of the other 15 schools in this. I suspect most of the SEC schools are not led by competent presidents but DEI puppets.

"The league won't let us have night kickoffs."
Night games are our tradition. You should know that. Nights and noise was our thing. Traditions are one of the primary factors that made CFB the greatest sport on earth. Ours was sacrificed on the altar of TV contracts when it didn't have to be that way. The SEC ought to have protected our tradition as much as they have the "Third Saturday in October." Did you know LSU-OM was played on the Saturday of Halloween. Wonder why the SEC didn't preserve that?

The SEC has already chunked our rivalries with UK, UF, State, Bama, and Auburn. This is not our dad's SEC.
