Not at the expense of hitting .214 vs sec pitching

that would be better than riding greyhound buses

Most minor league levels play six games series on the road, then six game series at home. It is one bus ride a week.

I don't think his defense has shown much flash, I've seen multiple balls hit over his head in center field that he couldn't get to. Also he's 6'2, 200 lbs and can't hit it out. He is also going to get ate up in the pros with taking so many pitches. He actually reminds me of Crews with his plate discipline with similar strikeout stats. I don't see how any team would take him 1st round with all the things he has yet to show and needs to work on.

If he had Jake Brown's arm then that would be another story. He does hit to the opposite field well but only has 15 extra base hits which is laughable. Jake Brown has more homeruns than Curiel has extra base hits.

Only way Milam stays is if he loves the college game.

Milam has been one of my favorite players to watch plat at LSU. That being said, I do believe his best days of baseball will be here at LSU and not at the professional level. I won't act like I know what kind of bonus he is slated to receive at whatever spot in the draft he is projected, but I do think (selfishly) that he should come back and do the full 4 years. He will be compensated generously and playing LSU baseball is miles ahead of some high A/Double A team in Kansas on a bus 4/7 days a week.

I disagree, I think Milam is a way better player than Curiel, maybe not prospect wise but would put money on his future before Curiel. His strikeouts are consistently lower, slugging is better and his defense is outstanding. Plus his ability to hit from both sides of the plate is eye-catching. The only reason people love on Curiel so much is because he was such a highly rated player and the announcers won't shut up about him.

He would show what many of us around here would call "some chest" if he and the other highly talented, yet ineffective, members of the failing 2026 team will come back to redeem themselves in 2027.

The fact that he is viewed to have a tremendous upside will increase his value. A lot of players are viewed as already maxed out physically and don’t have a big upside

I sure hope he comes back, but unless he has big NIL contracts, I don’t see it

Curiel has a career SEC average of over 0.300 whereas Milam is probably around 0.260 - 0.270. Way better is a bit of stretch.

No shite? What’s your point?

that no one in college baseball absent a freak like Skenes is "MLB ready." That is not a determinative factor in signing or not signing a contract post draft. They can get year round and unrestricted development in minor league ball that they will not receive in college ball. The entire purpose of minor league ball is to develop and prepare players for MLB baseball. Baseball is unlike any other sport in that regard.

And yet, Curiel is most recently projected to go in the 20s(in the first round) and 20 places higher than Jake Brown.

I think he’d have a tough time going in the 20’s with no loud tool, mingy. Baseball projections are the least scientific of any of the big 3 sports. They are hardly ever right

This is why you're not employed as a scout and rightfully so.

Only way LSU gets Milam back is if they pay him generous like he'd get off a bonus, which I doubt they'd do. Depends on how desperate they are to get LSU baseball back to a high level next year.

Milam doesn't have what the MLB wants projection wise due to his size and bat.

Yes. Which means his defense and his hit tool are his carrying tools. He will still grow into more power. He's got good exit velos showing the power did develop this year even if it didn't translate to more HRs.

Jon Jay had an 11 year career playing above average defense and being able to hit good enough to at least be a 4th OF with the ability to play CF. If Curiel ends up playing 11 years in the bigs, I'd think he'd hit more than 37 career homers.

I'll defer to your opinion but the only weak part I see in Curiel's game is arm strength which makes me think MLB would target him for LF.
