Somehow, people still don’t understand that coaching isn’t just recruiting and a white board play during a time out Wade was incredibly detailed and spoke constantly to the media to explain where his teams strengths and weaknesses were, why they did what they did, what the plans were, etc. he ran a competent program and had success. The issue is that he had a F U attitude and the powers that be had a witch hunt out for him. You even had Dickie V tweeting about rumors every time we were about to land a new recruit.

Obsession with Will Wade

Sold out PMAC consistently, constantly relevant in the SEC and March Madness race, funneled talent to the NBA, and could compete with the big boys, what's there not to love about him?

McNeese had been to the NCAAT twice in 50 years prior to Wade. They have been twice in two years with Wade.

McNeese's last winning conference record was in 2011-12 when they went 10-6. This was followed by 11 straight seasons with a losing record. In two seasons with Wade, McNeese has gone 36-2 with two conference championships. The first time they have ever won back-to-back Southland Championships. CWW has gone 57-10 overall in two years, a .848 winning percentage.

I would love for Wade to come back but I don't think he wants to, hope I'm wrong. I would love for LSU to bring him back but I don't think they want to, hope I'm wrong. Hopefully he'll take a job outside the SEC, aka NC St if not LSU.

He had the best first 5 years of anyone who has coached LSU in the SEC, only CC Stroud was statistically better, that was pre-SEC in the 1913-14 season to the 1917-1918 season. I can't imagine why LSU fans may want him back.

Having both baseball and basketball playing in late March is too much for some fans. For heart health.

We won games and made tournament appearances at a rate the program hadn't consistently seen in decades. What don't you get about that?

He had plenty of financial support. That's what got him fired

The obsession with mediocrity it what is a mystery to me. His teams ended up ranked in the Final AP Top 25 (not the be-all, end-all but a good indicator) once from 2017-2022 (link below).

Top 25 rankings aren't as important in basketball as football or even baseball.

All that matters in college basketball is getting into the field of 64 and then anything can happen.

Wade had LSU in the NCAA tournament every season, except his first.

Wade is 12th among all active D-1 HC's in winning % (minimum of 5 seasons). Two spots behind a guy named Izzo and three spots behind a guy named Pitino

But yes, he sucks, can't coach, and LSU could do FAR better

The same people saying he sucks are the same ones who keep telling us McMahon is good, that it’s just the 3 full rosters of players he assembled and near dozen of top 100 recruits are the problem. Pretty safe to assume these people are ignorant and or full of it.

Because their straw man argument is “uhhh he wasn’t like the greatest coach ever!!”

Yeah no fricking shite…but as the current dipshit is demonstrating this is not an easy place to win. Wade not only did what you said above but did a great job of selling his program and vision to the fans, generating excitement where there was none.

Is MM a better Xs and Os coach ? Idk maybe…is he awful by just about every other metric we’d use to judge a coach ? Absolutely.

The frickin' inmates need to run this asylum! That's how it should be in this case b/c no one has a clue. Wade would be our next Dale Brown..... Wait - he actually was. He would be the next Will Wade. WW2

Is that good for a 42 year old MBB coach?
