Nuss is on a good team, playing behind a QB who is nearing the end of his career. His Coach has a great offensive mind.
The opportunity is there. It beats playing for Kelly.

That depends on what you mean by "good".
If you're setting the bar so high that no LSU QB has reached it as a first-season starter, then what does it really mean?
He had a higher QBR in SEC games than Burrow and Daniels did in their first seasons starting in the SEC.
QBR in SEC Games, (Average Per Game)
Burrow (2018) - 77.6, 93.1, 51.4, 83.3, 49.7, 40.6, 65.9, 94.2, (69.5)
Daniels (2022) - 64.1, 60.9, 53.1, 93.6, 86.8, 85.4, 10.1, 78.2, 73.1, (67.3)
Nussmeier (2024) - 76.8, 75.8, 80.9, 67.1, 55.7, 66.4, 84.6, 87.3, (74.3)
The defenses are factored into that QBR formula. If you break it down by YPG ranking of the defenses, Burrow had the highest ranked SEC slate, highlighted by Mississippi State at #1 with Simmons and Abram. Average final ranking of SEC opponent defenses was 40.9.
Daniels had the lowest ranked slate. Average ranking of 63.9, highlighted by Georgia in the SECCG. Nussmeier had a better 2nd half in that game.
Nussmeier had the most games against top 25 defenses at 4. Average ranking of 44.5.

Watch out Lester the stats Earl is gonna come in and squeal like a pig quoting this and that.
Funny how the OC matters. I mean Joe Sloan was far better an OC that Joe Brady/ Ensminger and Mike Denbrock in 2023. Also, Brian Thomas Jr was just an average player as were Malik Nabers and Maason Taylor, Jamaar Chase, Justin Jefferson, Terrace Marshall Jr and Caeah at RB.
The scheme doesn’t matter at all in college football.

I only saw like 4 of his plays. But on one of them, he ran backwards 10 yards into a sack and got up limping. I had to check the channel to make sure I wasn’t watching an LSU replay from last season.

I don’t think so. I think it’s that many have come to grips that his talents and abilities did not live up to expectations.
While he was surely hamstrung by poor coaching, terrible scheme, etc all compounded by injury, he shoulders (perhaps unfairly) the disappointment of a failed season.

I actually thought he looked pretty good yesterday. The Chiefs didn't seem to be moving the ball too much until he came in. The O line didn't do him any favors. I came here to see LSU fan reactions and am surprised at the negativity towards him. Tough crowd I guess.
