MVB can only play in two more games and still keep his redshirt...that will certainly be a consideration.

Will be interesting to see if they burn one of the games for WKU or if they save him for Arkansas or OU.

Do you know if this is coming more from MVB side or our side, or were you just speculating?

Thank you! Also adding in the amount of times we threw to get that 4k. Does it take some talent sure but when you dig into it you see the big picture and his conference play tells the story as a whole for his career. Between the smoke about him not taking the offseason seriously and the stuff he said on a podcast it's no wonder. But at least we have the 4k and Ole Miss game last year right?

Which makes it all the more baffling sticking with Nuss

Number of games played and still be able to redshirt isn’t set by LSU.

Why would a player (or team) want to waste a redshirt year on a season that’s basically over?

Get 5 games of starting experience & compete. I think 5 year guys will become increasingly uncommon with rare exceptions like Pavia.

I am just speculating, but in the NIL age, that extra year will mean money...now you can argue he was paid NIL money this year and he should play as many games as needed...

Having a QB that is so reliant on the offensive line being great every year is not feasible. That's why every school has mobile QBs now. There arent many great olines out there but the mobile guy bails them out. Just waiting on LSU....

Thai makes absolutely no sense for a player.

We are already going to take at least 1 QB from the portal and maybe 2. Why waste a year when you don’t even know if you are going to start the next year (or even be at LSU for that matter)

The 5 years is irrelevant. If redshirts this year and balls out next, he can still go to the draft. But if he’s passed up now he’s wasted a year where he could transfer to a different school and still have plenty of eligibility.

Can’t wait for the board to be calling for the interim HC to be fired

They see the players 99% more than you do.

so football coaches are always right?

I mean, hell, Drew Bledsoe started over Tom Brady.

Football coaches aren't infallible, you know.

TF do they see that no one else outside of football ops is seeing?

Well, MVB came with zero SEC wins
He arrived with negative rushing yards
He was going back to the bench at Moo St. MOO STATE
He left Moo St with 54.7% comp, 11 TDs and 7 ints

The question is WTF are you seeing in him that no coach ever has?

I’ll concede “horrible” would be hyperbolic for this stat, but it was 9th in the SEC. So the hyperbole still sufficiently exposes the 4k yard paper tiger.

His completion %, his stats on deep passes, and his stats in games that matter tell a more complete story — one not inconsistent with this year.

I do think he is obviously hurt though. Just the throws themselves are not coming out the same at a very basic mechanical level, taking all the other parts of being a QB out of the equation.

It should be very interesting to see if Nuss performs at a higher level under Frank Wilson coaching staff. It wouldn’t surprise me. We may see a totally different team, attitude wise. In a good way.

Good point, if MVB sticks around. . .

I say Make nuss play out every game rest of the season, earn his millions. You can see it in his face, he doesn’t want to be there.

While I’ve been wanting MVB to play the prudent thing to do is have him play as many snaps as he can and retain
“red shirt”

MVB is more mobile than Nuss, but he still gets sacked. Hell he went in for the last 5 minutes of the aTm game and was sacked twice.

MVB also led the offense straight down the field for a TD in spite of poor protection and being sacked twice

Is there any actual evidence for this?

You could argue the transfer portal should make 5 year QBs more common, as guys who get beat out by younger players can more easily transfer elsewhere.

Of the 12 QB’s selected in the most recent NFL draft, only 2 (Milroe and Ewers) had remaining eligibility.
