Conservatives have trumpeted the data from the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention, but researchers say the reasons for the decline are unclear.
Young teenagers are less likely to identify as lesbian, gay or bisexual than they were a few years ago, according to a new analysis of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data.
The decline is particularly striking among ninth-grade girls, according to Jean Twenge, a professor of psychology at San Diego State University who published her analysis of the 2025 data on her Substack “Generation Tech.” In 2021, 30 percent of ninth-grade girls identified as lesbian or bisexual. Last year, 17 percent did.

It’s because the federal government started dismantling DEI programs which were offering preferential treatment in hiring and higher education to LGBTQ applicants. A lot of straight people were claiming to be bisexual in order to get access to this preference. It wasn’t so much that “being gay is a choice” or that this was a “social contagion”. This was an easily fraudable program which has been dramatically reduced in scope eliminating the incentive.

You know what's not transitory and temporary? The kids who underwent genital mutilation because the mob frenzy around convincing them their genitals were wrong.
The pushback against that insanity was to keep that from happening. Then, when it began happening it was to limit it as much as possible. "Just cuz culture" isn't an excuse for people convincing kids to irrevocably mutilate themselves, especially when the arguments they were championing were so flimsy.
Instances like that must be called out repeatedly and directly to attempt to lessen their impact as much as possible. Had more people been more willing to do so instead of passing it off as just a phase, there very likely would have been far fewer mutilations.

I really do think that children are told what to think through television. The subliminal messaging is far more impactful than people act.

Melting did nothing to help them, regardless.
Their stories are sad, for sure, but the outrage did nothing to help them.
All the outrage was, in the end, was virtue signaling.
