Was the only away game I went to as an undergrad. Awesome game.
What amazed me most though was someone had printed up bumper stickers and was handing them out to LSU fans after the game as they walked to their cars. High tech for that day and age.

Bruh at 42:02, Bama has a midget on the sideline just like this last year that's wild. Those commercials are special. And hilliard, wow.

Wasn't that his last season? Or was it the next year

Nope.
"Dalton-James Gang", after two of the most famous outlaw gangs of the wild west.

Why did Bear Bryant beat up his wife in 1982??
He asked her what time it was and she said 20 to 10..
Stupid joke I heard after that game.

Was it Doug Moreau on the game call?

My freshman year. I was there. We had several carloads of us from the fraternity. I do not recall how we got tickets but we got them.
Friday morning before the game I was talking to my parents on the phone from my room in Hodges. I hadn't told them I was going until then.
My dad says "Son you can't go to that game." I says "Why not?" "Because I just don't think it's a good idea you need to stay in town." That was my dear old dad, could always think of 10 reasons why you couldn't do something, never could think of a single reason how you could.
I says "Guess what dad, I'm here, you're 90 miles away, you ain't paying a dime of my college, the car is out front, and the guys are ready to go. Talk to you when I get back!"
We had a fun drive up to Tuscaloosa Friday and crashed on the floor at the Bama chapter. Went out and drank hard that night.
The day of the game in Birmingham was cold and clear and sunny and beautiful. I remember wishing the weather was like that in BR more often. I also remember thinking Legion Field sucked compared to our beloved Tiger Stadium. Our seats were in the end zone right above the Alabama tunnel so the Tide and the Bear came out right underneath us. We screamed every profanity we could think of. I was armed with my standard (back then) gameday large flask of Rebel Yell.
What a game, I just couldn't believe the whole time that LSU was beating Alabama. On the touchdown run Dalton Hilliard made, we could see it open up from the end zone and it was beautiful.
Honestly don't remember much about that night after the game, or the trip back to BR.
What a trip, what a time, what a game.
Great thread.

All the great things about the game have been said. As much nostalgia as the game brings back I remember those damned commercials like it was yesterday. The Whitney commercial really brings me back. But what is really crazy is that 10.9% auto financing was considered a great deal! And those damned ‘80s vehicles were ugly as shite!
Anyhow, what a game. Couldn’t help be reminded that Stovall had to step in after the Rein tragedy. Still a terrible thing to think about.
Ok, enough of that, the 3rd quarter is about to start.

Beating Bear Bryant in Alabama and Bobby Bowden’s Florida State, then losing to a 4-7 Tulane team is the most 1982 Jerry Stovall thing ever.
That entire month of November was kind of up and down. Beat Bama, got beaten by a 3-6 Mississippi State squad that was in the midst of a 6 game losing streak, blew out Florida State, then lost to a 3-7 Tulane team.

My dad had gotten transferred up to Tulsa so I just watched whatever game was on ABC and was so pumped up that with every s pre update, I would go to the backyard and burn energy by monkey dunking on a short goal we had. It felt good to know that, for the first time in my young life, we had skinned the Bear.

Drove to my cousins house in BR to watch it on this new thing called TigerVision. Very exciting game. My dad had a heart attack on the way home. Memorable day. He survived and lived to be 93.

You’re right, I remember now, Paul Hornung and Jimmie Taylor. My dad was telling us stories about the Golden Boy that day.

Old joke from that time. Did you hear the Bear got arrested for beating his wife? He asked her what time it was and she said twenty to ten.
